The truth about Lisa Rinna‘s shocking exit from RHOBH is coming to light!
In Andy Cohen‘s new book ‘The Daddy Diaries: The Year I Grew Up,’ the Watch What Happens Live host spilled the tea on how and when Lisa Rinna told him she was leaving RHOBH.
The Real Housewives executive producer explains that after the season 12 reunion, Lisa texted him in the middle of the night, announcing that she would be leaving the show.
He responded to Lisa, saying that “feels right.”
A few weeks later, Andy’s team told him that Lisa changed her mind and wasn’t planning on quitting the show anymore. However, the decision to move the show forward without Lisa for season 13 was already in place. Bravo decided that they would not scrap their plans and find a way to work Lisa into being a part of the show for season 13.
Andy revealed:
“I think she immediately, obviously immediately regretted what she had done, and that’s something that’s like if you’re moving that erratically and that sort of moment, you needed to be on pause, fired, quit. Like, whatever word you want to use, that needed to happen. I’m also shocked she didn’t publish the text.”
In early January 2023, Lisa Rinna publicly announced that she would not return to RHOBH for season 13 after eight years on the show.
In a statement at the time, Lisa said:
“This is the longest job I have held in my 35-year career, and I am grateful to everyone at Bravo and all those involved in the series. It has been a fun eight-year run, and I am excited for what is to come!”
Andy addressed Lisa’s departure, saying that he hopes Lisa’s exit from RHOBH is just a “pause” and that she will be back on the show eventually.
On the January 9 episode of Radio Andy, the WWHL host said:
“First, you’ve gotta give props to Lisa Rinna for being, by the way, eight years. I was surprised when she said it was the longest job she’s ever had. Usually, you don’t get a part on a show that goes for eight years. So this is a reality show, and that is a testament to how compelling Lisa Rinna is to watch on television that she went eight years.”
“I really do hope that this is a pause. I hope she will come back. I really do. I’ve talked to Tamra [Judge] about this a lot. Tamra ultimately said to me before she came back to this, she said, ‘You know what? My time away from the show kind of helped me as a person.’ And she said, ‘I think it was actually really positive to leave and get some air and step back.’ So I just hope that Lisa will humor us and comes back.”
RHOBH is currently in the middle of filming for season 13. Kyle Richards, Dorit Kemsley, Erika Jayne, Sutton Stracke, Garcelle Beauvais, and Crystal Minkoff are all returning. They will be joined by newbie Annemarie Wiley. Kim Richards, Denise Richards, Camille Grammer, and Teddi Mellencamp have all filmed for season 13.
Personally, I am not surprised that Lisa Rinna almost immediately regretted her hasty decision to quit RHOBH following the season 12 reunion. Girl, who would willingly walk away from Bravo money unless you’re RICH – you know what I’m saying? I think Lisa is going to come crawling back to Bravo in the very near future, and who knows, depending on how season 14 of RHOBH does with the ratings, they may be begging her to come back for season 15. We will have to wait and see.
