Bozoma Saint John is opening up about her reaction to Amanda Frances’ past — and why it left her with more questions than answers.
During an interview with Us Weekly, the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star reflected on the conversation surrounding Amanda’s past involvement in what’s been described as a cult-like environment. For Boz, it hit close to home given her own background.
“This one was such a strange one for me,” Bozoma, 49, said. “I grew up in an evangelical Christian church as well, so I know a lot of the tactics that go very left. There’s a certain line in any kind of religion where you can go from being holy into maybe something that is not as righteous. I don’t think any of us are thinking that cults are a little left of what is righteous, and so I understood how she got there.”
While she said she could understand how Amanda ended up in that situation, Boz made it clear that her issue lies more with how Amanda is choosing to present it now.
“I wish she would have been vulnerable with the group and with everyone who’s watching about what her experiences are and how they have affected her,” she explained.
For Boz, authenticity is key — especially on a show like RHOBH, where personal stories often drive connection with both the cast and viewers.
“We all have such different experiences and we all have things that we have failed at that we are trying to figure out, but nobody is perfect,” she said. “I think the best way to be as truthful and honest as possible. You can’t just put up this veneer of perfection — it’s going to come tumbling down and I think that’s what’s happening.”
Boz also suggested that what she’s seeing now is confirming some of her earlier instincts about Amanda.
“My opinions about her business didn’t change, but I saw more clearly that some of the misgivings that I had about her were indeed true,” she said.
Even so, she stopped short of completely dismissing Amanda, instead framing her as someone whose intentions may not align with her approach.
“I think she’s a woman who is trying to do the right thing. Unfortunately, her methods of doing that are not clear, and I wish that she could apply some of this goodness in a way that would actually benefit more people,” Boz continued.
She also took issue with Amanda’s messaging around success and money.
“I mean, she talks so much about getting rich AF, but using other people’s money in order to do that.”
Ultimately, Boz didn’t hold back when describing her overall impression.
“I think she’s cunning,” she said. “You have to be cunning in order to manipulate people, not manifest.”
As the season continues, Boz’s comments add to the growing tension surrounding Amanda — and raise questions about whether the group will ever fully trust her.
