Steve McBee is officially coming home.
Steven McBee Jr. revealed Wednesday that his father, McBee Dynasty: Real American Cowboys patriarch Steve McBee Sr., is set to return home Friday, September 11, following his months-long stay at a federal prison in South Dakota.
And the McBee family is apparently making sure everything is ready for his arrival.
Steven Jr. took to his Instagram Story on Wednesday, September 9, to share a glimpse inside his father’s lodge, revealing that the family has spent weeks renovating the property ahead of Steve’s highly anticipated homecoming.
“Dad gets home Friday so we’ve been busting it every evening and the last few weekends renovating and updating his lodge,” Steven Jr. wrote alongside a photo of the newly revamped space.
He then showed off one particularly important addition, writing, “New home office ✅.”
The photo featured a rustic office complete with a large desk, leather chairs and bookshelves, seemingly ready and waiting for Steve’s return.
While Steven Jr. had previously revealed that his dad was expected to be released on September 11, his latest post confirms that the countdown is officially down to just days.
Steve reported to FPC Yankton in South Dakota on December 1, 2025, after being sentenced to 24 months in federal prison following his guilty plea to one count of federal crop insurance fraud.
According to federal prosecutors, Steve admitted to fraudulent activity between 2018 and 2020 that caused an economic loss to the U.S. Department of Agriculture. In connection with his 2018 crops, prosecutors said Steve underreported hundreds of thousands of bushels of corn and soybeans and received more than $3.1 million in insurance benefits and premium subsidies to which he was not entitled.
His prison sentence and the fallout surrounding his legal troubles became a major storyline on The McBee Dynasty, with viewers watching Steve’s four sons grapple with what his absence would mean for both their family and businesses.
But Steve won’t end up spending the full two years behind bars.
Steven Jr. revealed in July that his father had been accepted into a program that allowed him to reduce the amount of time he would physically spend in prison.
“Thankfully, we’re down to less than two months now before he gets out,” Steven Jr. said at the time, explaining that Steve would be under home confinement for approximately four to six months after leaving FPC Yankton.
Steve’s September 11 departure means he will have spent a little over nine months at the South Dakota facility.
And Steven Jr. has made it clear that the family is eager to see what version of their dad comes home.
During an August 24 appearance on the Roxanne and Shantel podcast, Steven Jr. opened up about the changes he has noticed in his father while he has been away.
“We cannot wait to have him back here,” Steven Jr. said.
Steven Jr. explained that he believes the time Steve has spent reading and reflecting could ultimately have a major impact on him, adding that he hopes the changes he has noticed during their conversations continue once his father is back home.
“I hope that the way he talks now, the way he acts now, and the things he says, I hope they stick whenever he gets out of prison,” he said, adding that if they do, he believes “there’s a lot of good things to come.”
“He’s going to be a force to be reckoned with in a good way,” Steven Jr. added.
Now, with the lodge renovated, a brand-new home office waiting and the countdown nearly over, the McBee patriarch’s homecoming is no longer something the family is talking about months in advance.
Steve McBee is expected home Friday.
