Angie Katsanevas is weighing in on some of the most talked-about moments from The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City, and her perspective lands far more balanced than fans might expect.

While promoting The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City on SiriusXM’s Smith Sisters Live, Angie reflected on everything from Meredith Marks and Lisa Barlow’s renewed alliance to the chaotic plane drama involving Britani Bateman — and even the infamous moment the cast was asked to leave a restaurant in Greece.

One of the biggest shifts viewers noticed in the back half of the season was how tightly Meredith and Lisa aligned after years of ups and downs. Asked what brought them back together so strongly, Angie pointed to something deeper than strategy.

“Look, you know, originally I just kind of said, you know, are they doing this just because they felt like everyone was against them,” Angie explained. “But look, they have history obviously.”

She compared their dynamic to her own long-standing relationship with Heather Gay.

“During tough times, you know, Heather and I went to high school together and we went through a rough patch, but we came back together because we have history,” she said. “So, I guess we just have to acknowledge that they’ve got that history.”

Angie admitted she initially questioned whether Meredith and Lisa were simply acting as allies out of necessity, but over time, she saw something more genuine.

“That’s just kind of how I felt — like how can they really move on from all these things?” she said. “But, you know, they stayed true to each other and I guess thank God they did because I think it did feel, you know, those two against the world at the finale.”

Angie also laughed while revisiting one of the lighter — and more embarrassing — moments of the season: being kicked out of a restaurant while filming in Greece.

“Okay. I mean, nobody gets kicked out of a restaurant in Greece,” she said. “So us getting kicked out was like a little embarrassing.”

She explained that Greek culture can often be misunderstood, especially by outsiders.

“Greeks talk — Greek talk sounds like people are fighting because they’re passionate,” Angie said. “People would always say, ‘Why is she yelling?’ And I’m like, ‘Honey, that’s just how Aunt Rita talks.’”

Still, even Angie admitted that moment crossed a line.

“I just said, ‘Can we just have one more minute?’” she recalled. “He said, ‘No, ma’am. You must go. You get your things and leave. Good night. Thank you for coming.’”

Despite the awkward exit, Angie said the group couldn’t help but laugh afterward.

“He earned his tip and more,” she joked. “I hope he watched himself and got a laugh.”

But the most nuanced part of Angie’s interview came when she addressed the plane incident involving Meredith and Britani — a moment that divided both the cast and the audience.

Angie explained that she never witnessed the alleged confrontation firsthand, which put her in an uncomfortable position.

“I heard chaos going, but I didn’t know it was yelling,” she said. “I thought, ‘Oh my god, they’re whipping it up, they’re having wine,’ which happens on flights.”

She added that Whitney Rose was texting her about the situation, but she still didn’t fully grasp what was happening.

“So I feel like I was in the worst position because I didn’t see it with my own eyes,” Angie said.

While Angie acknowledged that some of the women felt Meredith didn’t take accountability, she made it clear she understood why Meredith was upset.

“I don’t blame Meredith for being angry at Britani for saying some of the things on national television that she said without facts,” Angie explained. “You know, throwing a marriage under the bus or business under the bus on television — there are consequences. I do not approve of that.”

At the same time, Angie admitted she felt compassion for Britani once the dust settled.

“I did feel bad at the mess that Britani was when she landed,” she said. “And that’s where I had compassion for Britani in that moment.”

Angie summed it up by acknowledging that both sides had valid feelings — even if the situation spiraled.

“Meredith had every right to be angry,” she said. “But I think the girls wanted her to take accountability for what they saw.”

In a season defined by shifting alliances, blurred accountability, and explosive confrontations, Angie’s comments offered something rare: perspective. Rather than picking a side, she recognized the complexity — and reminded fans that not every Housewives moment is as black and white as it looks on screen.

While appearing on Jeff Lewis Live, the The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star revealed that criticism aimed at her husband, Shawn, and their long-established business hit harder than any on-camera drama.

Jeff Lewis didn’t hesitate to share his own reaction.

“Again, I don’t like what they did to Shawn at all,” he said.

Angie agreed, explaining that bringing her family into the narrative crossed a line she wasn’t prepared for.

“Yeah. You know, that, to me, that was the most hurtful part of me coming on the show,” Angie said. “To think that Shawn shouldn’t be brought into anything and we’ve been married for 30 years.”

She went on to stress that their business was never dependent on reality TV exposure.

“We’ve been in business for 27 years now,” Angie explained. “There’s some great exposure for your business out there, but did we need it? No. We were already at max capacity. We had multiple locations and years under our belt.”

While Angie acknowledged that being on the show can offer visibility, she emphasized that it also comes with serious risk — particularly for women who already have something to protect.

“You really just have to stand strong in who you are, your values, the brand you’ve built,” she said. “Our business, we stay focused on. It’s continuing to grow. It’s continuing to be successful.”

Angie then widened the lens, suggesting that not everyone enters the show with the same stakes.

“I always say you want to attract women that are aspirational,” she explained. “But there are risks to bringing women like that on the show because there are other women that come on the show that have nothing to lose and are willing to say anything.”

That comment prompted Jeff to cut in — and he went straight to the name many listeners were already thinking.

“And are you referring to Monica Garcia? Because that’s the first person that popped into my head,” he asked.

“Absolutely. Yeah,” Angie replied without hesitation.

Jeff doubled down.

“Nothing to lose,” he said.

Angie then revealed that her issues with Monica began almost immediately after filming started — despite believing they were entering the season as friends.

“She came on the show. She was supposed to be my friend,” Angie said. “And then a week in, she was saying horrible things about me on national television and that’s why I pulled away.”

According to Angie, behavior like that doesn’t just affect personal relationships — it impacts who is willing to participate in the franchise moving forward.

“You can get those women that’ll come on and say anything,” she said. “But it’s going to deter successful women like myself and others that will not want to be a part of this.”

While Angie stopped short of naming every grievance, her message was clear: when cast members are willing to burn bridges immediately and target families or livelihoods, it changes the equation — and not in a way that benefits the show long-term.

And judging by her tone, she’s not interested in pretending otherwise.
