Dr. Wendy Osefo and her husband Eddie Osefo are facing a new development in their ongoing fraud case.

The Real Housewives of Potomac star and her husband reportedly appeared in court on Wednesday, March 4, where it was revealed that the couple will be tried separately in the case, according to a report confirmed through court records by Us Weekly.

Both Wendy, 41, and Eddie, 42, also waived their rights to a speedy trial within 180 days of their first court appearance, according to the court documents.

Podcast host Taria Shondell Faison, who claimed to be present in the courtroom, shared additional details about the hearing.

“They are estimating that Wendy’s trial and Eddie’s trial will each run four days. With one day for the defense. Again, that is the current estimate,” Faison alleged in a post on X.

It remains unclear whether either Wendy or Eddie entered formal pleas during the hearing.

The couple was arrested in October 2025 on charges of insurance fraud, conspiracy to commit insurance fraud, and making a false statement to a police officer, according to court documents obtained at the time.

Authorities say the case stems from a reported burglary at the couple’s Maryland home in April 2024. Wendy and Eddie allegedly told deputies that they returned from a trip to Jamaica to find their bedroom and closets ransacked, with multiple designer handbags and pieces of jewelry missing.

According to investigators, Eddie later submitted statements to two insurance companies listing the allegedly stolen items.

However, deputies began to question the burglary claim after reviewing purchase records and examining the couple’s social media and email accounts.

Investigators allege that several of the items reported as stolen had actually been purchased and returned to stores prior to the alleged burglary, with full refunds issued. The items were reportedly valued at more than $20,000.

Court documents also state that investigators obtained email correspondence between the couple that allegedly discussed adding more items to the insurance inventory.

In one message cited in the investigation, Eddie allegedly wrote to Wendy asking if there were “additional high-value items we can add to this inventory listing (i.e., Chanel shoes, etc.)? I’m trying to get the total to exceed $423,000 which is our policy maximum.”

Authorities further claimed their investigation found that the Osefos were dealing with significant debt at the time.

Wendy has strongly pushed back against the case. She later accused police of carrying out an “illegal arrest” and filed motions requesting that evidence be thrown out.

Her legal filings reportedly demand that all evidence be “suppressed because of an unlawful search or seizure,” and that wire and verbal communications be “suppressed because of an unlawful interception.”

With the couple now expected to face separate trials, the case appears set to move forward as one of the most serious legal situations involving a Real Housewives cast member in recent years.
