Brielle Biermann is setting the record straight after fans accused her of shading influencer Brigette Pheloung by posting herself in the same Vera Wang wedding dress Brigette wore for her wedding.
Brigette, who is known online as Acquired Style, married her longtime boyfriend Mitch McHale in a coastal Newport, Rhode Island wedding on Saturday, August 8.
For her big day, Brigette wore a Vera Wang gown featuring a drop waist, full ballgown skirt and large rose detail at the waist. She completed the look with a diamond teardrop necklace and Old Hollywood-inspired waves.
But shortly after Brigette’s wedding photos made waves online, fans noticed that Brielle had shared a video of herself trying on the exact same designer gown.
“The dress I almost said yes to 🤍,” Brielle wrote over the video.
Brielle, who is engaged to minor league baseball player Billy Seidl, captioned the post, “still love her 🤍 @verawanggang @verawangbride.”
The timing quickly raised eyebrows, with some social media users accusing Brielle of being shady by posting the dress right around the same time Brigette’s wedding look was being discussed online.
Brielle, however, denied that there was any shade involved.
“Addressing this once & for all,” Brielle wrote on Instagram Stories on Monday, August 10, alongside a screenshot of the post.
She explained that the video had been made before Brigette’s wedding photos were circulating.
“As you’ll see, I made this video on Friday,” Brielle wrote. “We had it scheduled to be posted on Sunday for engagement purposes.”
Brielle also said she had no idea Brigette was getting married that weekend.
“I’ve never met @acquired.style & did not know she was getting married this weekend, let alone see a leaked photo of her!” Brielle said.
Brielle made it clear that she has no issue with Brigette and even complimented her wedding dress choice.
“She clearly has great taste that she went with Vera Wang for her dress!!” Brielle wrote.
She then explained that since her own wedding is coming up, her team wanted her to begin posting bridal content.
“My wedding is approaching, so my content strategist wanted me to start posting bridal content leading up to my date,” Brielle shared. “I have another video of an additional dress I almost said yes to that is prescheduled to post tomorrow.”
Brielle ended her post by wishing Brigette well.
“To @acquired.style, I genuinely hope you had a fabulous wedding day & enjoyed your dress!” Brielle wrote.
Brigette also reacted to the drama after The Toast posted a video unpacking the situation.
Instead of escalating things, Brigette responded playfully in the comments.
“brielles second choice >>>,” Brigette wrote.
The response made it clear Brigette was not taking the situation too seriously.
