Kathy Hilton is shutting down rumors that her sister Kyle Richards and estranged husband Mauricio Umansky are back together, or at least making it clear she hasn’t heard anything directly.
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills friend addressed the reconciliation chatter while walking the red carpet in Los Angeles, just weeks after Kyle and Mauricio were spotted spending the holidays together.
“Not that I know, personally, but you never know,” Kathy told Access Hollywood when asked about the speculation. “Every day’s a new day. I, personally, think I would’ve heard about those rumors. I’ve heard them, too. But I did not hear it from Kyle. These sources sometimes are delulu.”
Kathy’s husband, Rick Hilton, backed her up, agreeing that fans and media should take online rumors with a grain of salt.
The reconciliation buzz kicked off earlier this month after Kyle and Mauricio were seen together at a New Year’s Eve party in Aspen — a longtime family hotspot for the Richards-Umansky crew. The sightings immediately sparked online theories that the longtime couple may be giving their marriage another shot.
However, several RHOBH cast members have also poured cold water on the rumors.
During her January 15 appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, Dorit Kemsley made it clear she wasn’t buying into the hype.
“I mean, listen, everybody knows they hang out as a family in Aspen,” Dorit explained. “Kyle and Mau have a good relationship, yadda, yadda, yadda. By the way, no one would have to guess whether her and Mau are getting back together. Kyle would be the first to scream it from the rooftops.”
Sutton Stracke shared a similar take during the WWHL After Show earlier in the month, saying she wasn’t convinced anything romantic was happening.
“I’m just learning about all of these [rumors],” Sutton said on the January 8 episode. “I said earlier that I think that, you know, they love each other. They’re family. So, I don’t know. I haven’t talked to Kyle since New Year’s, so I don’t know exactly what’s going on. Who knows if it’s taken out of context? I don’t know.”
While Kyle and Mauricio have continued to appear together for family events and holidays, insiders and castmates alike are suggesting that co-parenting and maintaining a strong family bond doesn’t necessarily mean a full-blown reconciliation is in the works.
