Sutton Stracke is entering The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Season 15 in a noticeably different headspace, but that hasn’t shielded her from moments that still sting.

After the departure of her close friend Garcelle Beauvais last season, Sutton has been navigating the group on her own and focusing on building steadier relationships with the other women. While she says she approached this season with more patience and openness, she admitted she was still surprised by some of the commentary that surfaced in the premiere.

In the Season 15 opener, Erika Jayne made a body-shaming remark about Sutton, comparing her body to a “box.” The comment was made dismissively and referenced Sutton’s figure rather than her clothing or style — a moment that quickly stood out to viewers and became a focal point of discussion after the episode aired.

When Decider asked Sutton about the comment, she didn’t mince words.

“Yeah, that one hurt.”

Sutton was also questioned about another notable moment from the premiere, when Erika opened up about her estranged husband Tom Girardi’s prison sentence and shared a shocking thought.

“Well, it’s so abrupt to hear someone say, ‘I hope that they die before they [go to prison],’” Sutton said. “I think I was a bit speechless. But when you think about what she said, I kind of get it. He’s … I don’t know … Erika can always surprise me.”

Despite the hurtful body-shaming remark, Sutton revealed that she hasn’t yet addressed it directly with Erika and remains conflicted about how to move forward.

“No, I haven’t. I’m kind of on the fence about it. It hurt. It was not a nice thing to say, but we were just in the beginnings. Our relationship was maybe still there. Hopefully, we’re going to see this relationship get better.”

Sutton acknowledged that, aside from the comment, she and Erika had actually been starting the season on more positive footing.

“Right. I wish she hadn’t said that. Yeah, I mean, we did. I’ve always enjoyed her when we weren’t fighting. She’s smart, she’s witty. She’s more than you think she is.”

She also addressed her dynamic with Dorit Kemsley, teasing that viewers may be surprised by how their relationship unfolds as the season progresses.

“I think that Dorit and I might have some surprises for the audience,” Sutton said. “I just came into the season feeling very much like, ‘OK, let me calm down and let me listen to these people and let me try to understand where they’re coming from.’ I think it really helped. It helped me and it helped my relationship with these women, for sure.”
