Andy Cohen is sharing his thoughts on whether anyone from the Bravo world should run for office, and his answer was very Andy.
The Watch What Happens Live host took to Threads for an impromptu Q&A while on a plane, writing, “On a plane and up for Q/A to kill some time if you wanna post some Q’s below ….”
One fan then asked Andy about politics and whether he thinks anyone from Bravo would be a good fit for public office.
“I’m so happy you’re weighting into politics,” the fan wrote. “Question is there anyone from bravo world who you think should run for office or do you think famous people shouldn’t run for office?”
Andy responded by admitting that, so far, the track record for reality stars entering politics has not exactly been great.
“So far the track record for reality stars running for office is TERRIBLE,” Andy wrote.
Still, Andy did not completely shut down the idea of a Bravo star making the jump into public service.
“So I’m hesitant to say I think there are some really smart people on Bravo with great communication skills who could be effective in public service though,” he added.
Andy’s response is already getting fans talking, especially because Bravo has no shortage of outspoken personalities with strong opinions, loyal fanbases and years of experience arguing their point on camera.
While Andy did not name anyone specifically, his answer leaves the door open to the idea that some Bravo stars could potentially be effective in public service if they took it seriously.
For context, several reality TV figures have either won public office or been appointed to major government roles over the years.
Donald Trump is the most obvious example. Before becoming the 45th and later 47th president of the United States, Trump was the host of NBC’s The Apprentice and The Celebrity Apprentice.
Sean Duffy also made the jump from reality TV to politics. He appeared on MTV’s The Real World: Boston and later Road Rules: All Stars before being elected to Congress from Wisconsin in 2010. He was later named Transportation Secretary in President Trump’s second term.
Survivor winner Nick Wilson is another example. After winning Survivor: David vs. Goliath, he was elected to the Kentucky House of Representatives, where his official legislative biography lists him as serving from 2023 to present.
There have also been plenty of reality stars who ran for office but did not win, including names like Caitlyn Jenner, Clay Aiken and Spencer Pratt, which may be part of why Andy said he is hesitant to hype up reality stars entering politics.
