Lindsay Hubbard is reacting after news broke that West Wilson is reportedly not returning to Summer House, and not everyone loved her response.
According to TMZ, West was not picked up for the upcoming season of the Bravo series and will not return when cameras begin rolling over the July 4 weekend. Sources connected to the show told the outlet that while West is not expected to be part of the next season, the door is not completely closed and there is still a possibility he could appear in a cameo at some point.
The news comes after a very messy season for West, whose romance with Amanda Batula became one of the biggest storylines of Summer House Season 10.
West and Amanda confirmed their relationship in March after weeks of rumors. The romance shocked the cast because Amanda had recently separated from Kyle Cooke, and West previously dated Ciara Miller, Amanda’s former close friend.
The fallout took over the reunion, with Ciara accusing Amanda and West of betraying her and Kyle having to process his estranged wife moving on with someone in their own friend group.
After the report about West not returning surfaced, Lindsay took to Threads with a shady reaction.
“Just woke up from a nap, what did I miss? 👀😂” Lindsay wrote.
The post quickly got attention from Summer House viewers, especially because Lindsay has been publicly calling West out in recent weeks. She previously slammed him for allegedly trying to get fans not to watch the show, accused him of using her daughter as “click bate” and claimed he “manipulated” Amanda into their romance.
However, some fans pushed back on Lindsay’s latest reaction and called out what they feel is a bigger issue with how the cast has framed the Amanda and West situation.
One viewer responded, “You missed the glaring point that Black women have been making this entire time; Amanda is NOT a victim. Amanda uses her meak white woman card & it’s exhausting to watch you and other cast members use words like manipulation (in regards to West) as if she didn’t know the repercussions of her actions.”
Another fan agreed, writing, “We’re all upset that you, Kyle and Bravo seem to want us to believe West is the bad guy. She’s NOT a victim and I wish y’all would stop acting like she is.”
The criticism comes after Lindsay previously used the word “manipulated” when discussing West and Amanda’s romance. When fans questioned that wording, Lindsay doubled down and explained why she believed West initiated the situation.
“I’m on an airplane atm otherwise I would post a video.. but I say West “manipulated” Amanda because HE is the one who initiated this fuckery. HE is the one who said “hey uhhh is it me or like do we like each other?” Or whatever tf his hot dog smelling ass said. Yes, Amanda is a grown ass woman and makes her own big girl decisions. And yes, she needs to deal with those big girl consequences. You will see that convo btwn me and her in tomorrow’s Aftermath episode”
That explanation did not sit well with everyone, especially viewers who believe Amanda should be held equally accountable for getting involved with West after years of friendship with Ciara.
Ciara has also been vocal about how deeply Amanda’s actions hurt her. In a recent Harper’s Bazaar interview, Ciara said Amanda was “always the damsel in distress” and “always the victim,” adding that their friendship lacked reciprocity.
“Everyone’s always there for [Amanda]. She never has to be there for anyone. She is always the damsel in distress, always the victim,” Ciara said.
Ciara also said, “I was always a friend to her, and she was never a friend to me.”
That is why some fans are frustrated with the way the conversation has shifted toward West being the main problem, while Amanda is seemingly being framed by some cast members as someone who was led into the situation.
As of now, West has not publicly addressed the report that he will not be returning to Summer House.
