Steven McBee Jr., star of McBee Dynasty: Real American Cowboys, recently opened up in a candid interview with us on the AllAboutTRH podcast about why he and his family are still covering ex-girlfriend Calah Jackson’s rent and car payments, months after their breakup.

Kristi McBee had revealed on TikTok that she is still helping with these expenses, and Steven Jr. explained the complex emotions and practical reasons behind their continued support despite the split.
“I care about the person,” Steven Jr. said. “It sucks now because there’s emotions involved. So there’s, you know, bad things being said on her side. You know, we’ve said some things because we feel very jaded.”
Despite the tension, Steven emphasized that their commitment to help Calah was about integrity, not emotion.
“What I’ve always learned is that when you have two people that are going at it, the truth always lies somewhere in the middle. So you have, like, this swing of emotions on my side, my mom’s side and my family side. The swing of the emotions on Calah’s side where she’s feeling jaded, too. And the truth is always going to be somewhere in the middle.”
“And we just would never, ever do that to someone that we care about, no matter what is being said on the internet. Like, we’re sticking to our word of like, ‘Hey, we told you we would do this. We’re not just going to leave you hanging.’ You know, we’ve got you through October.”

When pressed further on why his mother Kristi would take on that financial burden, Steven gave credit to her character and compassion.
“My mom is such a good person,” he said. “I told her, I was like, ‘Hey, I can’t afford this. Like, things are tight in my way. There’s no way I could pay for her to get back down to Dallas.’”
Steven also explained that Calah lacked the family support system that he had and that relocating her to Dallas was the healthiest way for them to finally separate after a cycle of repeated breakups and reconciliations.
“Calah didn’t have the family support that I do. It was a tough situation because Dallas is a very, very expensive place to live. So, you know, it was like, ‘Hey, we have a very toxic relationship. We understand that we need to be broke up.’”
“If she’s living in Kansas City at my condo, inevitably we’re going to get back together, which is what happened over and over and over. Like, we’ve got to separate. And she goes back home to her support system, her family and friends. And the only way to have that happen is if we offer some support there.”
While the breakup may have been messy, Steven McBee Jr. made it clear that their continued support for Calah was about keeping their word and ensuring she could move forward, even if the relationship itself couldn’t be saved.
