The 24-year-old “Next Gen NYC” star didn’t hold back in defending her mother, calling Chicago’s WGN9 host Larry Potash “insulting” and “unprofessional” during a recent episode of the “Viall Files” podcast.

The controversy arose when Potash asked Teresa, “How is it that a family doesn’t pay their taxes for years? Is that what the fraud charges were?” To this, Teresa responded sharply, “OK. Let’s just hang up. That’s it,” and ended the interview immediately.

Gia acknowledged her mom’s reaction, joking that Teresa “felt frazzled” and “is not tech savvy in any way.” She went on to praise her mom, saying, “I thought she handled it perfectly. She’s just over it.”

Gia expressed frustration over the ongoing assumptions about her family’s finances, stating, “People have this whole narrative that we just don’t pay our taxes. It’s honestly comical for me.” She continued, “But I feel so bad for my mom because she’s been busting her ass and paying everything since she got out.”

While Gia recognized that “people want [Teresa] to set the record straight,” she stressed that it’s “frankly … nobody’s business.”

She added, “People think they know what happened, still to this day, and they don’t.”

For context, Teresa Giudice and her ex-husband Joe Giudice pleaded guilty to fraud charges in 2014. Teresa served 11 months in prison for mail, wire, and bankruptcy fraud. Joe served two years before being deported to Italy in 2019, after which the couple ended their 20-year marriage.

Gia’s defense highlights her support for Teresa as she continues to face public scrutiny over her past.

Good for Gia. I'm glad she stands up for her mother. Teresa paid her debt to society just as Joe did. Teresa continues to pay any money owed to the IRS for back taxes in the amount of 300K. The only ones going on and on about this are haters with TDS. ? Oh, and people who apparently LOVE the IRS and have this burning need to defend the tax man. ? Move on, already. ?

Pay your taxes and live within your means and you won't be asked these questions. What do you expect being a public figure??

Why would anyone be interested in a 10-11 year fraud case? Tre & Juicy have already paid their dues and it’s time to move forward.
