Meredith Marks Responds to Jen Shah’s Reduced Sentence and the Possibility of RHOSLC Comeback

When it comes to Jen Shah’s reduced prison sentence, Meredith Marks has a simple, yet direct response: “Good for her.”

This comment came from the Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star during an interview at the Blue Jacket Fashion show on February 4. While Meredith Marks, 53, made it clear that the decision was beyond her control, her reaction to Shah’s sentence being shortened was a surprising one. “That’s not my call. That’s someone else’s call,” Marks said. “But, good for her.”

The ongoing saga of Jen Shah’s legal troubles, began in 2021 when she and her assistant were arrested for allegedly defrauding elderly victims in a telemarketing scam. After initially pleading not guilty, Shah eventually admitted guilt and has been serving her sentence, which has now been shortened twice. According to inmate records, Shah, 51, is now scheduled for release on November 3, 2026.

As for Jen Shah’s potential return to RHOSLC after her release, Meredith Marks was cautious. “That’s a call for production, and I don’t wanna comment,” she stated.

Recently, the RHOSLC cast was curious about Marks’ interaction with Shah while the latter was serving her sentence. During the season 5 reunion, Marks confirmed that Shah reached out to her via phone. “It was very brief,” Marks recalled. “She called me. Well, obviously, I can’t call her.” This sparked a debate among the cast, particularly Whitney Rose and Mary Cosby, about whether Marks should have engaged with Shah at all.

For Rose, 38, the comparison was drawn to her own experience with former RHOSLC star Monica Garcia, whose gossip account led to her departure from the show. Cosby, 52, took a stronger stance, suggesting she would never have answered Shah’s call, given the hurt she felt from the star’s past actions. “She tormented us,” Cosby asserted.

Meredith said that she did not reach out to Shah for any ulterior motives. “I didn’t seek Jen out to dig dirt on my friends,” she explained. “Jen called me from prison after she’s taken accountability, served time and is paying restitution.” This perspective led Marks to question the broader notion of forgiveness, pointing out that everyone deserves the opportunity to change.

“Is that what we’re all deciding? That there’s no second chances in life?” Marks asked. She continued, “She is serving her time and paying her restitution and has been accountable for it. What should she do? Curl up in a corner and die?”

Despite the tension that lingers between Shah and some of her former co-stars, Meredith believes in the potential for reconciliation. “Of course. There’s always a path forward,” Marks stated when asked about the future of her friendship with Shah. It’s clear that Meredith sees room for growth, even in the midst of all the drama and hurt.

While some of her RHOSLC castmates may never see eye-to-eye with Jen Shah, Meredith Marks is holding onto the belief that healing, accountability, and second chances can lead to a brighter future—for both relationships and individuals.

In the end, it seems Meredith is ready to embrace the idea that no one should be defined by their mistakes forever—and that includes Jen Shah.

Meredith didn't say when Jen reached to her, but if it was not long before the reunion it was because Jen wanted Meredith to mention her at the reunion. Maybe that was what the call was about. Jen wants back on the show so bad it is pathetic. She doesn't want anyone to forget her and it will be interesting to see what Bravo does once she is out. I don't believe at all that Jen is all that contrite. She would still be scamming elderly people out of their money if she hadn't been caught.

A mistake is buying the wrong color paint, the wrong size shoe, milk instead of half-and-half. However, when you target the most vulnerable just because they are the most vulnerable in order to deliberately victimize them, that is not a mistake - that is pre-meditated predation. It bespeaks a basic moral deficit that is as much a part of her as her eye-color. Now you can buy colored-contacts to fool other people but it doesn't change what's behind the facade. She was garbage in and she'll be garbage out.

ITA, and Meredith is as morally corrupt as JS ... and that pretty much goes for the entire cast, Angie being the exception (at least I want to believe that).

If Shahshank is indeed sprung in Nov. of '26, she will have served 3 years and 9 months. I'm good with that, permitting she pays back every red cent to her victims. Speaking of restitution, I think Bravo absolutely will invite her back, their excuse being that they are providing Jen Shah with the required funds. It's a win win win; for Bravo's ratings, Jen, and her victims.

They let Theresa back from New Jersey. I agree bring back Monica and Jen Shah. What's the difference between being a blogger and giving information to one? I mean really???

Not much from where I'm sitting. I doubt we've seen the last of either one of them on the show, although with Jen S., I would think we're looking at season 8 before she would even be available to film.

Love it!!! Yes...all hell will break loose! Those HWs won't know what hit them! Just watch that hyped up b*tch Angie twist and turn toward her old peeps (Jen Shaw and Monica) and leave Miss Mary in the dust. Such fun!

Witless' revelation that she had been "reaching out" to Von Tease indicates that the stage has been set. We have not seen the last of that grifter.

She may have rehabilitated herself in prison but Jen was violent on the show and doesn't deserve to come back.
Zap It February 7, 2025 - 4:22 pm
Yeah, she was violent. There's just something wrong with her.
Champagne Hangover February 7, 2025 - 12:20 pm
I agree with Meredith. Prison isn’t just about punishment, it’s SUPPOSED to be about rehabilitation too ESPECIALLY those who were intended from the jump to be released back into society. Jenn was NEVER going to do even the decade or so of the MAX she could have been sentenced, but even if she had, she was absolutely intended for release. AND like her or not (and I DON’T), like it or not, she ostensibly EARNED her reward of early release. So, let’s just see what Jenn can then earn when she’s released into the wild. ? Cuz…we don’t have any other choice, nor should we. What she did was awful and shameful but she didn’t kill anyone.
Jane_one February 8, 2025 - 8:17 pm
She didn't kill anyone but she may have shorten the life of some of her elderly victims from all the stress they endured.
Champagne Hangover February 9, 2025 - 8:11 am
That’s for God to determine as no court of man can. Point being, she will have paid her debt to society by the 2026 release whether or not we as individuals are satisfied with that payment. Like it or not, our satisfaction doesn’t mean cluck. And because of such, I do hope that this bitch slap heard ‘round the world (lol, not really) of her humiliating incarceration has enough sting to it for Jenn to keep her nose clean. That’s the best we got, like it or not. ?

Meredith is entitled to her opinion. I've never been a fan of Shah. She only admitted to duping vulnerable seniors when a gun was held to her head but she is serving her time and paying restitution. Let's see in the future if second chances work for her.
Me-Leech-A's drunk mum February 7, 2025 - 12:40 am
She’s a lawyer who values facts and the justice system. She’s consistent, intelligent, and rarely makes uninformed judgments. Her view isn’t surprising—she’s right: without second chances, punishment would be eternal. I wouldn’t have taken the call personally, but as always, she made sense.
