Dorit Kemsley Slams Erika Jayne for Blindly Defending Kyle Richards: "She Did Something Wrong!"

The tension between Dorit Kemsley and Erika Jayne continues to simmer on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills (RHOBH) after the January 21 episode, where Erika publicly defended Kyle Richards regarding her controversial texts to Dorit’s husband, Paul “PK” Kemsley. Dorit, however, didn’t hold back on her feelings about Erika’s stance, accusing her of being too quick to believe Kyle’s side of the story.

In the episode, Erika Jayne goes to bat for Kyle, insisting that the texts between Kyle and PK were innocent, even though Dorit Kemsley feels otherwise. “That hurt. I’m your friend too,” Dorit says in a candid moment during the RHOBH After Show. “And you saying she did nothing wrong, when my feelings are she did something wrong — and by the way, Erika would not be OK with it.” Dorit believes Erika’s defense of Kyle is based on a deeper emotional connection and the desire to avoid conflict. She added, “Erika chose to believe what Kyle was saying because she feels like it’s too hard for her not to.”

But why does Dorit feel so strongly? Dorit explained that if the roles were reversed, Erika would likely feel just as hurt and upset. “I’d think [differently] of Kyle,” she revealed. Dorit feels Erika’s blind defense of Kyle doesn’t sit right, especially because she doesn’t fully buy into Kyle’s explanation that the text was not about her.

In the episode, Erika tries to defuse the situation by engaging in a spa conversation with Dorit. However, it becomes clear that Dorit is not backing down from her belief that Kyle’s texts were inappropriate. Erika, trying to navigate the difficult waters, says, “I said, ‘Well, I need proof.’ Dorit said, ‘Well, I don’t need proof.’ I said, ‘Well, I do.’ I’m not going to take a position on that, because even if it was that way, I don’t want to believe that.”

Ultimately, Erika confesses that she didn’t want to pick sides in this heated drama. “I don’t want to choose anybody over anybody, and I’m sure it’s going to look like I’m the biggest f–king flip-flopper ever. I hope not,” she admits in the After Show. But despite her best efforts to stay neutral, Erika acknowledges that the situation was becoming too much for her to handle. “I knew it was a terrible position. At some point I was going to get it wrong, and I was going to have to step backward. Which is what I did.”

Erika further explains her approach to the conflict, explaining that her goal was simply to be kind and supportive to both of her friends, who are dealing with tough personal struggles. “Both of these women are important to me, both of these women are going through very tough times in their life and I’m going through a tough time in my life. I want to give everybody the grace and the love and support that I possibly can,” she says. “I don’t want anybody to hurt more than they have to.”

Despite her efforts to stay diplomatic, Erika admits she was put in an incredibly difficult position and had to step back. “I said, ‘You know what? I quit. Now the two of you need to handle it.’”

In the end, Erika’s main priority is to take care of herself and remain true to her own values. “All I tried to do was show up and be kind, be supportive, and try to be as objective as I can with the information that I have,” she says, admitting that she doesn’t have all the details. “It’s important to remember, you have to take into consideration what’s happening to these women at home and [in] their marriages.”

Who’s side are you on?

Yeah what the hell was that, Erika? One of the biggest flips in HW history!!!

I think it's a distraction for both parties, REAL lives.

Over the years, we've seen some pretty ridiculous story lines take precedence over an entire season, but this one takes the cake. I really don't think I have the patience, let alone the will, to endure 15more weeks of this. The season so far is a hodgepodge of scripted, staged, and poorly acted scenes. Also, the cast is too big, and it feels like they're all just waiting around for their cues to say their "lines" so they can GTFO there and live their real lives.

Erika knew she should have stayed far away from this spat, but she purposely engaged in it. She knew what she was doing but wanted in on the story line, which it seems will be the focal point of this entire season. The fact it is the main story line this season explains a lot about why RHOBH has become so boring and tedious. It's time to pull the plug.

Just like a slimey lawyer, Erikunty is going to worm her way out this "friends" dilemma. Erikunty learnT it from her cheating, stealing husband and Erikunty should pay back the $25 Million she OWES victims too.

Somehow we keep getting led away from the point; it’s not ok to keep secret communications with someone’s other half . Married , separated etc - not ok. Then to not be upfront and honest about is only worse . The end .

Agreed!

Yes, but EJ did take sides. She sided with Kyle. Someone got a call reminding her that she owes Kyle for her support during the Girardi scandal and that Kyle kept all the receipts. Jusy saying...

Yup Zap it, very true. Remember last season when Kyle was cold & distant with Dorit & just prior to the reunion, she, out of the clear blue, texted Dorit to stand by her, which Dorit shared with Erika who read it aloud & production aired it? I couldn't get past Kyle's manipulative hypocrisy & was beyond overjoyed that production should her up. Darn Time to show everyone what evil looks like.

As much as I can't stand Kyle, this is the most ridiculous "fight" I have witnessed in a LONG TIME. My motto: Don't get in the middle of divorces. If you are friends with both parties STAY friends with both parties. The divorce is between the couple, not everyone else.
Champagne Hangover January 23, 2025 - 12:37 pm
Easier said than done sometimes, and in a contentious divorce, at least 90% of the time, ain’t gonna happen. That said, Dorit is trying to fit a square peg into a round hole with Kyle. Kyle has literally, explicitly and publicly demonstrated in no uncertain terms how she regards her ‘friendship’ with Dorit. Dorit just needs to believe Kyle when she shows Dorit who she really is and then, act accordingly (having as little as possible to do with Kyle and stop tryna be a snake charmer ?). Kyle is PK’s friend. Dorit needs to just accept that cuz you can’t lose a friend you never had. ? So meh… ?

I agree with with most of what you're saying if you're friends with both parties and remain friends with both. Makes sense. BUT Kyle isn't friends with Dorit. Just Dorit's husband. Kyle wouldn't like it. No one would.
Champagne Hangover January 23, 2025 - 12:39 pm
I should have read your post before posting mine. You said it more succinctly. ??
LiberalMediaIsCorrupt January 23, 2025 - 3:50 pm
So if she is just friends with PK, why can't she talk to him? I just don't get it. When you get to an age where a lot of friends get divorced I just don't want to be told to choose sides. You can be friends to both without betraying either one.
Starr January 23, 2025 - 3:57 pm
Unfortunately LMC, it seems a betrayal in this case as Kyle wants to hurt Dorit for kissing Mo's shoulder, regardless of how Kyle tries to spin it. The fact that she saved that odd moment on her phone says it all.
LiberalMediaIsCorrupt January 23, 2025 - 7:26 pm
Oooooh. I am NO Kyle fan after what she did to LVP. Mo looks super happy this season. I wonder what will happen to this business with all those damn fires.
Starr January 26, 2025 - 7:31 pm
I haven't liked Kyle from the very first season & first airing & cant stand her after what she did to LVP. So happy she is being dragged now. Better late than never, she's gotten away with way too much for way too long. Mo is in 7th Heaven since the separation, no turning back for him, not ever. As for the unfortunate fires, I don't know.
Zap It January 24, 2025 - 2:26 pm
Exactly...well said
Zap It January 24, 2025 - 2:24 pm
Two reasons: she's just PK's friend for now because A) she wants to keep tabs on Mo and, B) she want's to get back at Dorit out of spite for the whole Mo thing in 2022. It's not sincere. Unlike the situation you had years ago in which you were sincere?
LiberalMediaIsCorrupt January 24, 2025 - 7:39 pm
I thought the two couples hung out a lot I don't know. I didn't watch for a couple seasons.
Champagne Hangover January 23, 2025 - 9:40 am
Tbh, Erika is making sense. Sure, I’ll bet she knows she has to tread lightly with Kyle due to the power structure, BUT I can see where she’s coming from in that picking sides and jumping on bandwagons can come back to bite you in the ass and but HARD. Plus, it’s never a good look to kick someone when they’re down. So, I can see why Erika doesn’t want to go in HAM on women going through divorces. I get it. Peeps will still nitpick because of what she may or may not have known re: Tom, but this has nothing to do with that. This is just someone trying to navigate a difficult situation between co-workers which can (and did) get real messy, real fast. So, I give Erika grace here even though I’m Team Dorit in her squabble with Kyle.
Starr January 23, 2025 - 12:08 pm
I agree that Erika was between a rock & a hard place. She also knows which side her bread is buttered & that is to keep the hypocrite close or else. She does see Kyle for who she is but is afraid to rock the boat because of the consequences it will incur to her. So to her mind, Dorit will get over her being on both sides, but kyle will Never!
Champagne Hangover January 23, 2025 - 12:16 pm
Yup. ??
