Paige Desorbo reveals that she learned about Carl Radke & Lindsay Hubbard’s split just days after production wrapped on Summer House.
Turns out Paige Desorbo and the rest of the Summer House cast were just as shocked as Bravo fans when the news of Carl Radke and Lindsay Hubbard‘s split broke in the press.
The Giggly Squad podcast host admits that she never expected drama to emerge after the Summer House cast wrapped filming on season 8 in late August.
“It is so interesting because this summer definitely was very different from any other summer we’ve had,” Paige Desorbo said on the Thursday, September 28, episode of “The Toast” podcast. “We had a great time this summer to the point where we actually said — during the last day of filming — like, ‘What is our reunion going to be like?’ Because it was copacetic.”
The 30-year-old said that season 8 of Summer House ended on a high note.
“Obviously, there was some drama, but it wasn’t so deep and so dark that we were like, ‘I will never speak to that person again.’ It was chill drama that normal people have, and we thought there was going to be nothing [else].”
However, two days after the cameras stopped rolling on season 8, news emerged that Carl and Lindsay had ended their engagement.
“Then literally 48 hours later, we were like, ‘Pardon?’ [I found out] on the internet like everyone else,” Paige shared. “No one was there. I don’t even really know the details. I just know I found out through the internet and texted Amanda [Batula] and she was like, ‘Call me.’”
Lindsay and Carl met in 2016 while filming season one of Summer House. The two quickly became friends and had a brief romance during season 4. They remained friends after their failed attempt at dating. In late 2021, Carl and Lindsay started dating – again and later confirmed their relationship in January 2022.
In August 2023, news broke that Carl broke off his engagement with Lindsay on camera while filming season 8 of Summer House.
Lindsay was “devastated” by Carl calling off their engagement just 2.5 months before they were set to marry in Mexico.
“He did call off the wedding on camera,” a source told Us Weekly at the time, noting that it was “so mean” for Carl to break up with Lindsay on camera.
On Thursday, September 14th, Lindsay Hubbard released a statement on Instagram just days after PEOPLE confirmed that the Summer House couple officially canceled their November wedding in Mexico.
Lindsay wrote:
I would like to start by saying thank you for allowing me the space and time to process my emotions, heal, and grieve the loss of not only my relationship but my friendship with someone I considered my best friend for 8 years.
The last 2 weeks have been the most heartbreaking and emotional weeks of my life. My entire life and future was ripped out from underneath me, and I’ve had a hard time making sense of it all – with no answers or closure on why. I feel humiliated by how it went down and simultaneously heartbroken that it happened in the first place. My trust has been betrayed, and coming to terms with that has been difficult for me.
This was not my decision, and I do not agree with quitting a relationship (at this level) without trying everything possible first. I have spent the last couple of weeks finding my own closure and peace. I am forever grateful to my best friends who have not left my side and have been picking up the pieces of my heart and life every day from the fallout.
I am still grieving and trying to process all that has happened, but I felt it was important to update you all. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for the love and support from my friends, family, cast mates, and all of you for carrying me through.
