For the most part, the Real Housewives of Salt Lake City cast stood behind Jen Shah following her arrest in March 2021. The RHOSLC cast believed Jen when she proclaimed her innocence on multiple occasions so imagine their shock when Jen pleaded guilty to fraud charges as part of a national telemarketing scheme that defrauded older Americans in July 2022.
Whitney Rose recently revealed that she has not talked to Jen since taking her plea deal almost three months ago.
“I have not spoken to her since she pled guilty,” Whitney revealed on Teddi Mellencamp and Tamra Judge’s Two T’s in a Pod podcast. “I sent her a text the day after she left [for] New York for her pretrial stuff, so that was like two days before she changed her plea, and I haven’t reached out to her, and she hasn’t reached out to me.”
“I’m mostly concerned about the kids,” she continued. “She has a son that is in high school, and can you imagine what his life is like right now?”
Whitney also wonders how Jen’s husband, Coach Shah, did not know about his wife’s crimes. “Coach Shah, how does he not know?”
Meanwhile, Meredith Marks recently chatted with E! News about her reaction to Jen’s guilty plea.
“I was shocked,” Meredith admitted. “It’s sad all the way around.”
The jewelry designer also addressed the victims of Jen’s telemarketing scheme.
“There was never a question that there were victims; there were always victims whether Jen was involved or not. So that was never an issue. I always felt for the victims, so that really didn’t change.”
“Whether Jen was innocent or not, I always thought that she at least believed in her innocence. So for her to switch that plea was really shocking to me, and I’m sure we’ll learn more of the back story. I don’t think it’s something she can really talk about until after sentencing. It’s still an open case,” she added.
As for her friendship with Jen, Meredith said, “I think Jen obviously needs support now. I’m not the judge; I’m not the jury, it is not my job to convict her; it’s not my job to sentence her. So yes, I’ve been in touch and checking in to make sure she’s OK. She’s been through a lot, and it takes its toll. It’s emotionally very difficult, I would imagine.”
She continued, “At the end of the day, she is a human being, you know? She is as we all are, and we make mistakes, and if you’re going to take accountability and try and do better, then what else can we do?”
The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City returns to Bravo on September 28.
