Monique Samuels may have left RHOP, but she is not going quietly.

Speaking out to Insider, Monique claims that lines were crossed after rumors swirled that she had an affair. The rumors went so far as to say that her son was a product of the alleged affair (the rumor has never been proven to have any merit.) Monique stated “I’m a woman of my word. I’ve always said that if the show ever interfered with my family or my marriage that I would definitely get to packing,”

On top of that, the season revolved around a very nasty feud between her and Candiace Dillard, which Monique was grilled about during the reunion. Fans were quick to say that they do not condone violence; however, pointed out the double standard that Andy seemed to have when it came to Monique. While Porsha Williams had an ugly altercation with Kenya at the RHOA reunion, Andy seemed to side with Porsha, insinuating that Kenya had provoked her. In addition, Braunwyn Windham-Burke admitted to hitting her husband Sean on RHOC this year, even doing so in front of one of her children. Fans felt that Andy glossed over this at the reunion, with Gina being the only person expressing the severity of the situation. Monique, on the other hand, didn’t seem to be shown any mercy, something she agreed with saying:

“I was definitely held to a different standard,” Samuels said of Cohen’s treatment of her. “At some points, I was being looked to show the emotion that they wanted me to show versus what I was giving to them, which was true for me.”

Monique hinted that Andy definitely showed favoritism, adding: “It’s his responsibility to treat everyone equally. If you’re going to hold one person accountable, everyone knows needs to be held accountable as well.”

Samuels further hinted that a lack of diversity in the production staff helped play into how the aftermath of the fight went down saying:

“You need to have that representation behind the scenes because not everybody understands other cultures that are outside [of] themselves. If they did that then you wouldn’t get so much heat once it airs. It becomes obvious that the diversity is lacking in that area.”

Monique hinted that she was definitely done with RHOP, although wouldn’t rule out reality TV completely: “If I ever returned to reality TV, I would definitely need to be on the executive producing staff and it would have to be a different type of show. I would want to be a part of something that focuses on a beautiful Black family and how we are just like everybody else. We get along. We argue, we have fun. We have ups and downs, just like everybody else.”

I agree that Andy and Bravo have been inconsistent with how they handle violence. I have to admit that Monique does have a point when she stated that if they are going to hold one person accountable, it should be consistent across the board.
