Gretchen Rossi, one of the show’s most iconic personalities, is making her return — but this time as a “friend” of the cast. Production on Season 19 of the hit Bravo series began this week, and while the entire main cast is returning, former “friend” Alexis Bellino will not be part of the new season, according to Variety.

A Familiar Face in the OC

Gretchen Rossi first joined RHOC in Season 4, which aired in November 2008. At the time, she was engaged to Jeff Beitzel, a much older, wealthy man who was frequently painted by some of the other women as a “golddigger” — a storyline that quickly became one of the most talked-about parts of her debut season. Tragically, Beitzel passed away before the season aired.

Despite the controversy surrounding her initial years on the show, Gretchen made a memorable exit in Season 8 when she delivered a lavish proposal to boyfriend Slade Smiley. Smiley, who had been a significant part of Gretchen’s storylines, accepted, and they’ve been together ever since. In 2019, the couple welcomed their daughter, Skylar Gray Smiley, though they have never tied the knot.

Although Gretchen Rossi was let go after her eighth season, she remained in the Bravo universe, making guest appearances in later seasons. She also participated in the ill-fated Ultimate Girls Trip season filmed in Morocco in early 2023, which was scrapped following a legal dispute. Kyle agrees, explaining that the emotional toll of the situation has become too much. “I am telling you… full-blown mental breakdown,” she admits.

Later, in a confessional, Kyle reflects on the overall state of her relationships with the women. She confesses that she’s never felt more alienated, saying, “I can honestly say in all of these years in this group, this is the worst I have ever felt, and I just don’t have the strength in me to keep doing this.”

As tensions rise, Kyle compares the group dynamics to something far more insidious. When discussing the fallout from her text drama with Dorit and PK, she exclaims, “I’m like, ‘What, are we in a cult?’ This is insane. It’s literally insane.”

Kyle’s frustration is palpable as she continues to explain how everything about her life has been scrutinized. “I’ve had my marriage questioned, my personal life questioned, now my character, my integrity. Now you can f*ck off. That’s where I draw the line.”

Despite her frustration, Kyle makes it clear that she’s not willing to engage in the drama any longer. She reveals that if Dorit is unwilling to move past the situation, she’ll walk away: “I’m gonna say what I have to say to Dorit. I’m not going to continue to discuss this and go down this situation anymore, and if she wants to move forward, great. And if she’s gonna keep doing this, then I’m going to disengage from her and that’s it.”
