Jessel Taank is explaining why her friendship with Erin Lichy keeps hitting the same wall.
The Real Housewives of New York City star recently spoke with Danny Murphy and Evan Real on SiriusXM’s Page Six Radio, where she opened up about her complicated dynamic with Erin and addressed the drama surrounding her question to Carole Radziwill about Carolyn Bessette’s demeanor.
Jessel’s conversation with Carole became a talking point among RHONY fans, but Jessel made it clear that her question was not meant to be shady or disrespectful. Instead, she was trying to better understand Carolyn’s presence and personality from someone who had real proximity to that world.
But when it comes to Erin, Jessel’s frustration seems much more direct.
Danny Murphy pointed out that both Jessel and Erin have said they believe they can eventually get to a better place, even though their friendship continues to be rocky.
“You told us that you feel like you guys can get to a better place,” Danny said. “And then when we talk to Erin, she feels like you guys get to a better place. So, I think it is just like a rocky road before more smooth sailing.”
Jessel agreed that there is still love between them, but said the issue is what happens after they try to move forward.
“Here’s the thing. I feel like mutually we do have, like I said, love for each other,” Jessel said. “What pulls me back is that she’ll say, ‘Let’s make amends.’ But then go and do dumb shit.”
According to Jessel, the friendship keeps falling into the same pattern.
“So again, it’s like we get to a good place in our friendship and then I hear that like she’s been talking about me and then we go back to the sort of like, you know, it’s really two steps forward, like three steps back always.”
Jessel and Erin’s tension has been a major part of the new RHONY era. The two have had moments where it looked like they were finally moving past their issues, only for more comments, misunderstandings or behind-the-scenes chatter to bring them right back into conflict.
