Tamra Judge is sharing what she believes led to Liz McGraw’s shocking exit from The Real Housewives of Rhode Island after just one season.
The Real Housewives of Orange County star spoke with Page Six’s Virtual Reali-Tea and admitted she was disappointed to see Liz walk away from the series.
“I don’t like it at all. I think she brought a lot [to the show],” Tamra said.
According to Tamra, she had spoken with Liz during the off-season and knew the RHORI star was having a hard time dealing with the intense social media backlash.
“I had talked to her off-season and she was really struggling with the hate on social media,” Tamra revealed.
Tamra, who has dealt with plenty of online criticism throughout her years on RHOC, also called out how far some viewers take things when reacting to reality TV.
“People need to chill. It’s TV. It’s entertainment,” Tamra said. “You don’t need to go for their children and their businesses and write bad Yelp reviews and send death threats.”
Liz announced earlier this month that she had “made the decision to take a step back” from The Real Housewives of Rhode Island as filming for Season 2 began.
“I am full of gratitude for the amazing opportunity to appear on this show,” Liz wrote in her Instagram announcement. “As filming for Season 2 begins, I have made the decision to take a step back and focus on my family, my work and my passions.”
Liz also made it clear that she supports the franchise moving forward.
“The RHORI cast is an amazing group of women who have created something special,” she continued. “I’ll be watching next season, rooting for the continued success of this franchise.”
Liz’s departure surprised fans, especially because she was one of the most talked-about women during RHORI’s first season. Several major storylines centered around Liz, including her tension with castmates and her fallout with Jo-Ellen Tiberi.
After Liz announced her exit, some viewers speculated that her decision may have been tied to legal issues involving her close friend Dino Guilmette, who is currently facing eight drug-related offenses stemming from his March 2022 arrest.
Liz quickly shut down that speculation.
“It’s fascinating to me how everyone assumes my reason for leaving involves being afraid of ‘skeletons’ … ‘jail,’ etc.,” Liz wrote on Instagram Stories after announcing her exit.
Liz also denied being involved in any criminal case and called the rumors about her “preposterous.”
Dolores Catania, who is close with Liz, previously defended her as well, saying Liz “got hammered on social media” and questioning what she did to deserve that level of backlash.
Andy Cohen also reacted to Liz’s exit by commenting, “The door is always open. Just sayin’!”
