Teddi Mellencamp is speaking out about the situation between Kyle Richards and her sister Kim Richards, and according to her, there’s more context than what initially made headlines.

During her podcast Two T’s in a Pod, Teddi addressed the reports that Kyle had taken legal action against Kim, saying she wanted to clarify what really happened after the story surfaced.
“I was with Kyle the day it was released on TMZ. And this was years ago. The actual truth is yes, they did say you need help if you want us to keep paying for you,” Teddi explained.
She and co-host Tamra Judge both agreed that setting that kind of boundary made sense.
As the conversation continued, Mellencamp shared more details about the living situation, confirming that the home in question was owned by Kyle.
“It’s a house that she bought for Kim,” she said.
When asked whether Kim was expected to pay rent, Teddi suggested that wasn’t the case.
“Definitely she wasn’t. I don’t think. I think Kyle supports Kim financially.”

Teddi also clarified a key point that has been widely misunderstood. While many reports referred to it as a lawsuit, she explained it was more of a formal filing related to removing Kim from the property.
“Yes, but then she left. Then Kim left so that is the end of it and Kim is no longer in the house,” Teddi said after Tamra described it as an eviction.
According to previous reporting from TMZ, Kyle filed legal documents in January 2025 seeking to remove Kim from a Los Angeles area condo, claiming she had been asked to leave months earlier. The filing reportedly requested possession of the property and daily damages for the time Kim remained there.
Despite the situation, Teddi added that she believes Kim is doing better now.
While the situation highlights the complicated dynamic between the sisters, Teddi’s version suggests the legal move may have been less about conflict — and more about setting boundaries during a difficult time.
