Teddi Mellencamp is no stranger to being open with her followers, and in a recent Instagram post, the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum shared an incredibly personal aspect of her ongoing battle with Stage 4 melanoma. As her health journey continues to evolve, she’s revealed the emotional weight behind a simple decision—whether or not to wear a wig.
In her heartfelt post, Mellencamp candidly explained, “The day to day decision of wig versus no wig,” adding, “Crying days I tend to pick the wig.” For the reality star, each day brings new challenges as she faces the ups and downs of her treatment for melanoma, which has spread to both her lungs and brain.
Diagnosed with melanoma in 2022, Mellencamp’s condition has taken a more serious turn, with her revealing her Stage 4 diagnosis in February of this year. She emphasized just how intense the process of treatment has been, noting, “The highs and lows of treatment for stage 4 brain and lung tumors are pretty extreme.”
Beyond sharing her personal journey, Mellencamp also used the opportunity to encourage her followers to stay proactive about their health. “Please go get your yearly checks,” she urged. “It’s melanoma awareness month. No better time than now to book and remind a friend or loved one.”
Despite the tough news in recent months—such as discovering more tumors on her brain and receiving a 50/50 chance of survival—Mellencamp offered a more hopeful update shortly after. Her tumors have shown “significant shrinkage,” giving her renewed strength as she continues her fight.
