Nia Sanchez is speaking out after the backlash toward her husband, Danny Booko, has gone way too far.

The Valley star opened up to Us Weekly about the harsh messages Danny has received from viewers as Season 3 continues to air. While Danny has faced criticism over his drinking and tense moments with Nia on the show, Nia says some of the online comments have crossed a disturbing line.
“We see the comments and we see the DMs and it kind of makes me wonder what’s wrong with people because he’s gotten death threats,” Nia shared. “People have told him you should just, like, go in the back and take yourself out so that your kids and wife can be happier. That is so heartbreaking to me.”
Nia and Danny have been open about their marriage and family life since The Valley premiered in May 2024. The couple, who got married in 2015 and recently celebrated their 10-year wedding anniversary, share four young children: Asher, 4, twins Isabelle and Zariah, 3, and Adelaide, 12 months.
This season, Danny has been heavily criticized by some cast members and viewers after concerns were raised about his drinking habits and the way he spoke to Nia during certain difficult moments.
However, Nia made it clear that Danny has apologized both publicly and privately and is doing the work to better himself.
According to Nia, the cruel messages do affect Danny, but he is intentional about protecting his mental health and showing up for their family.
“He’s also so intentional with his headspace, and I’m so grateful for that because while those ones really do affect him and get him down, he starts every day fresh,” Nia shared. “He takes care of his mental health, like, physically with working out and prayer and meditation. He’s really intentional to be in a good headspace for our family.”

Nia knows what it feels like to face public criticism. Before joining The Valley, she was crowned Miss USA in 2014 and dealt with her own share of negative comments and scrutiny.
“There were a lot of things that were similar coming at me and my headspace around it has always been that’s really sad that that’s someone’s heart and headspace wants to go put that on someone that they don’t know,” Nia said. “It helps me to kind of zoom out and be like it’s not a reflection of me or not a reflection of you.”
Nia’s comments come at a time when many fans have already complained that the conversation around Danny has started to feel like a pile-on. While Danny has admitted to mistakes and apologized for his behavior, some cast members have continued to bring up his drinking and alleged actions, with Janet Caperna in particular being called out by viewers for repeatedly pushing the “dark side” narrative.
Nia also praised The Valley as an “incredible platform,” but made it clear that nothing comes before her marriage and family.
“I’ve always told Daniel the No. 1 most important thing — and we’ve both said this to each other — is the health of our marriage,” Nia explained. “If we feel like we’re getting to a place that’s not something we can quickly rebound from, then we need to put a pause to focus on the health of our marriage and longevity of that for us and our kids. That’s the most important thing over anything else — our family — so we’re in a lot better place now with the therapy and the work that we’re both really putting in.”
