Jax Taylor has been granted a temporary restraining order against Brittany Cartwright as the former couple’s divorce battle continues to get more intense.
According to Us Weekly, the 47-year-old Valley star filed a request asking the court to deny Brittany’s temporary restraining order against him and instead order Brittany to stay more than 100 yards away from him and his home.
In the filing, Jax argued that Brittany has repeatedly referred to him as “an abuser.”
“She seems determined to make this a label that sticks, even though [he has] done nothing to deserve this,” Jax claimed.
While Jax was granted a temporary restraining order, part of his request was denied because the court determined that an adequate ruling would require a hearing.
A court date has been set for September 24, which is also the day Jax’s temporary order is set to expire.
The latest legal update comes after Brittany was granted a temporary restraining order against Jax last month. In her filing, Brittany accused Jax of several instances of domestic violence and alleged that he subjected her to “coercive control, financial abuse, emotional and psychological abuse, gaslighting and even physical violence” throughout their relationship.
Brittany also alleged that Jax once threatened to “gut [her] like a fish” and physically attacked her.
Jax has admitted that he regrets some of his behavior from that period of his life, but he has denied Brittany’s allegations.
“I made a lot of mistakes and behaved in ways during that period of my life that I’m truly ashamed of and regret and take full responsibility for,” Jax told Us Weekly in a statement.
He continued, “The person I was in 2024, during the darkest time of my life and at the height of my addiction, is not the person I am today.”
Jax said he got help, went to treatment and is now “one year and nine months sober.”
“I’ve remained committed to treatment and therapy, working on myself and changing my life,” he said.
Jax also made it clear that he disputes some of the claims being made against him.
“There are allegations being made that I strongly dispute. The full story, context and evidence will be addressed where it belongs — in court. I will respect the court’s orders and the legal process.”
He added, “My focus continues to be my sobriety, working on my mental health, being the best father I can be to Cruz and moving forward in a healthy and responsible way.”
Brittany and Jax separated in 2024 after years of their relationship playing out on Vanderpump Rules and later The Valley. The former couple share their five-year-old son, Cruz.
While Brittany requested sole custody of Cruz, that request was denied by the court.
The temporary restraining orders mark another major escalation in what has already become a very public and emotional divorce.
