The Summer House star has been very vocal about West after reports surfaced that he will not be returning to the Bravo series next season. Lindsay previously reacted to the news on Threads and later called West out for his comments about the show, accusing him of trying to hurt Summer House viewership and using her daughter as “click bate” while allegedly distracting from his secret relationship with Amanda.

But after Lindsay focused much of her criticism on West, some fans pushed back and questioned whether she was giving Amanda too much grace in the situation.

One viewer wrote, “I watched Amanda manipulate you plenty of times by saying her biggest complaint with Kyle is children because she knows that will pull at your heart strings. The same way she focused her complaints to Paige about financial independence & Ciara about cheating and emotional security. In the past, Amanda has picked each friend’s empathetic weakness and manipulated it for her own agenda motivating “flying monkeys” against Kyle.”

Lindsay responded by agreeing with the viewer’s point, but clarified that her recent posts were specifically about West because of what he had recently said and done.

“100% but my posts/thoughts last night and this morning were focused on West due to his recent/abhorrent comments and actions. I handled my thoughts re: Amanda on tomorrow night’s episode,” Lindsay replied on June 16.

The backlash comes after Lindsay slammed West for comments he made on his Show Me Something podcast. West had said he hoped a New York Knicks game would air at the same time as the Summer House bonus episode, which some fans and cast members took as him hoping people would not watch the show.

Lindsay previously wrote, “West Wilson: you are trash. Trying to get people to not watch our show that I brought you on, you should move immediately.”

She also added, “Brother, you get paid for that episode. Just be thankful you still have a paycheck from our show.”

The drama continued when Lindsay accused West of manipulating Amanda into their controversial romance, while still acknowledging that Amanda is responsible for her own choices.

“I’m on an airplane atm otherwise I would post a video.. but I say West “manipulated” Amanda because HE is the one who initiated this fuckery. HE is the one who said “hey uhhh is it me or like do we like each other?” Or whatever tf his hot dog smelling ass said. Yes, Amanda is a grown ass woman and makes her own big girl decisions. And yes, she needs to deal with those big girl consequences. You will see that convo btwn me and her in tomorrow’s Aftermath episode”

That wording sparked criticism from fans who felt Amanda was being framed as a victim, despite Amanda being an adult who chose to pursue a relationship with West after her split from Kyle Cooke and after West’s past romance with Ciara Miller.

Another viewer defended Lindsay and argued that her posts were more about the future of the shows than about protecting Amanda.

“To anyone who thinks Lindsay is defending Amanda, calm down. Lindsay is concerned about the future of In the City and maintaining Summer House’s viewership. She wants to make sure the audience stays invested and continues watching. They make money from viewership and brand partnerships! Brand deals pay more when people are invested in their shows. If you don’t understand that, then I can’t help you.”

Lindsay agreed with that take and again denied that she was defending Amanda.

“Exactly lol also not sure how I’m “defending” Amanda when my posts last night and this AM were directed at West but sure..” she responded.

The conversation comes after a messy season and reunion centered around Amanda and West’s romance. Amanda and West confirmed their relationship in March after weeks of rumors. The relationship shocked the cast because Amanda had recently separated from Kyle, while West previously dated Amanda’s former close friend Ciara.

Ciara has been outspoken about feeling betrayed by both Amanda and West. In a recent Harper’s Bazaar interview, she called Amanda “always the victim” and said their friendship had “no reciprocity.”

“Everyone’s always there for [Amanda]. She never has to be there for anyone. She is always the damsel in distress, always the victim,” Ciara said.

That is why some viewers are especially sensitive to any cast member appearing to place most of the blame on West while minimizing Amanda’s role in the fallout.
