Rulla Pontarelli is not letting the internet run wild with speculation about her marriage.
The Real Housewives of Rhode Island star responded after we received a viewer tip claiming Rulla and her husband, Brian, were spotted out to dinner in Rhode Island and that the interaction between them seemed “awkward.”
Rulla and Brian’s marriage has been one of the most talked about storylines during RHORI’s first season, after allegations of Brian’s affair became a major topic on and off camera. Despite the drama, Rulla has continued to stand by her husband and has said the two are working on their marriage.
The latest speculation started after a viewer sent photos to the Roxanne and Shantel podcast, along with a message about seeing the couple out together.
The tip read, “Had a rulla and Brian sighting here in little rhody last night for dinner. Sat behind them ! The entire interaction seemed very awkward and off, not like in a relationship at all! Also left in two different cars, weirdddddd”
After the photos were shared, Rulla responded directly to the viewer who sent them in and pushed back on the claim that anything was off between her and Brian.
“Looking for attention here, we see? That’s par for the course. We were happy and toasting our drinks and conversing privately. Clearly you didn’t want to capture the REALITY,” Rulla wrote.
Rulla then explained why she and Brian arrived and left separately, saying their schedules simply did not line up that day.
“We are busy people. We each made time for a bite and came from separate meetings. I don’t know what makes arriving and leaving in separate cars unusual when people are coming from two different places and have to carry on with their days thereafter. Some of us have multiple businesses and obligations where others don’t,” she continued.
Pontarelli ended her message by calling out what she believed was an attempt to create drama.
“Let’s be nice and stop the bullshit. It is clear that you are trying to stir the pot to get a few likes and comments. Find another hobby and don’t lie.”
The response comes after Rulla and Brian addressed their marriage publicly on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen. Rulla previously said the two were “working on things” and claimed they were in a better place after the affair drama.
“We’re working on things, to be honest,” Rulla said at the time. “We’re in a much better place than we were before. It’s like it was prior to the affair—and better.”
Brian also said from the audience that he and Rulla were “stronger than ever.”
Still, because RHORI viewers have watched their marriage drama unfold on the show, every public sighting of the couple is now being dissected. Andy Cohen has even weighed in on her first season, saying she seemed to think she could hide more from the cameras than is possible.
“Rulla feels like an interesting case study of someone who, in her first season of Housewives, seems to think she can hide more from the cameras than is possible,” Andy previously said.
Pontarelli, however, appears to be making it clear that not every dinner outing needs to become a storyline.
