The Summer House newbie is opening up about where he stands with his former friend after the explosive fallout surrounding West’s relationship with Amanda Batula. And according to KJ, the issue is not just that West made mistakes. It is that he does not seem to be learning from them.

During a Tuesday, June 2 appearance on Carl Radke’s More Life With Carl Radke podcast, KJ admitted that he believes in giving people grace, but he is struggling with West’s behavior.

“I know people make mistakes. I’m someone that gives grace, trust me,” KJ said. “I’ve made plenty of mistakes, and people have given me grace, but it just seems like he’s not learning from his mistakes.”

Dillard said the more he hears and sees from West, the more he questions whether West is actually remorseful.

The Bravo newbie continued, “I keep seeing stuff and hearing stuff. I’m just like, ‘Bro, what is going on? Are you actually sorry?’”

West has been in the hot seat since confirming in late March that he and Amanda were dating after weeks of rumors. The romance shocked the Summer House cast because Amanda had recently separated from her husband, Kyle Cooke, and West previously dated Amanda’s former best friend, Ciara Miller, in 2023.

The situation caused major damage within the friend group, especially as cast members accused West and Amanda of hiding their connection and not being honest with the people closest to them.

For KJ, the fallout hit especially hard because Summer House had become more than just a show. It had given him a new circle of friends.

KJ even compared West’s behavior to his relationship with his father, which he previously opened up about during Season 10.

“My dad has apologized to me and said, ‘I’m gonna do this. I’m gonna be better.’ Then, it just continues to repeat these cycles,” KJ continued. “It’s just like, ‘What is going on?’”

KJ explained that he has had “wishy-washy” relationships with men in his life, which made the West situation feel even more disappointing.

The Amanda and West drama, he said, “hurt” him.

“I’m like, ‘Bro, you lied straight to all of our faces,’” KJ said. “I know he has his own life and he can do whatever he wants, but it’s just like, dude, just disappointing.”

The Summer House Season 10 reunion has centered heavily around West and Amanda’s relationship, as well as the emotional fallout for Ciara and Kyle. Ciara has made it clear that she felt betrayed by both her ex and her former best friend, while Kyle has had to process Amanda moving on with someone from their inner circle.

KJ also reflected on West’s behavior at the reunion and suggested he did not show the emotion the situation called for.

“He didn’t show much emotion,” KJ said of West.

KJ also noted that West “did not protect” Amanda at all.
