Teddi Mellencamp is opening up about how her ongoing cancer battle has changed the way she views her separation — admitting that her health struggles have made her rethink everything.
The former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star appeared on SiriusXM’s Jeff Lewis Live, where she got candid about where things currently stand with estranged husband Edwin Arroyave and how illness has complicated an already emotional situation.
When Jeff Lewis asked about the status of their separation, Mellencamp revealed that while they are living apart, nothing has been legally filed.
“No, because I’m not considered in a place where I’m strong enough to even do that,” Teddi shared.
Jeff agreed with her decision, pointing out how emotionally taxing that process can be.
“I think that’s smart,” Jeff said. “I think that’s very smart because it’s incredibly stressful.”
Teddi confirmed that she is still living in the marital home, while Edwin has moved out.
“Yes,” Mellencamp said, confirming the arrangement.
Despite the separation, Mellencamp emphasized that they’ve maintained a healthy co-parenting dynamic.
“Yeah, we have a good co-parenting relationship,” she explained.
But Teddi admitted that battling cancer has added a new emotional layer — and at times, it’s blurred the lines of why they’re no longer together.
“It’s just, you definitely go through highs and lows,” Teddi said. “Like I definitely, there are days where I’ve forgotten all the reasons why we aren’t together because when you’re feeling really down or low when you’re having cancer treatments then you know….”
Tamra Judge jumped in, finishing Teddi’s thought.
“You want that person with you,” Tamra said.
Jeff then asked directly whether Edwin has been there for her during this difficult time.
“I mean he is sometimes,” Teddi admitted.
While it sounds complicated, Teddi reassured listeners that she’s not facing this alone.
“I have a lot of good friends,” she said.
Jeff responded, “Good.”
Teddi added, “Tamra’s one of them, but I have a lot of good friends.”
Tamra also pointed out that Teddi has a strong inner circle she’s leaned on for years.
“You have a great group of girls that you’ve known for years with Kyle and Jen,” Tamra said.
Teddi then highlighted another major source of strength in her life.
“And my dad’s been incredible,” she shared.
