In the wake of the news surrounding Kyle Richards and Mauricio Umansky’s separation, Kathy Hilton is showing her emotional support for her sister, Kyle, while also speaking candidly about her feelings for her brother-in-law. Despite the turmoil and separation, Kathy Hiltons still deeply cares for Mauricio and is navigating her emotions carefully in the midst of this difficult time.
Kyle Richards has been open about the support her sister Kathy has shown throughout the challenging separation from Mauricio. According to Kyle, Kathy has been incredibly emotional, often breaking down in tears during their conversations. “She’s broken down crying to me about my separation, many times. She struggles to talk about it,” Kyle shared. “I think it’s so interesting. And sometimes she’s so emotional that I can’t talk about it with her. She’s very heartbroken it came to this.”
Though the public may see her as distant or even detached from the situation, Kathy Hilton insists she still holds strong feelings of care for her brother-in-law, Mauricio. “I still care for him and he is my niece’s father,” Kathy explained. “He has been wonderful with Farrah. He and Kyle were a great couple, and we used to have so much fun. It’s sad.”
In a rare moment of vulnerability, Kathy described calling Mauricio to check on him around the time of his anniversary with Kyle. She had heard he was on a trip and wanted to make sure he was doing okay. “When it was his and Kyle’s anniversary, I called him and he was on a trip. I think he was in Austria skiing,” Kathy shared.
The conversation, however, took an unexpected turn. Mauricio, caught off guard, asked Kathy if everything was okay. “He asked if everything is okay, and I felt very bad for him,” Kathy recalled. “You could see in his face he was sad and confused. This was just as tough on him as it was Kyle.”
Kathy reflected on how difficult it must have been for Mauricio, and the sadness in his eyes made her wish there was more she could do. “You look back at the pictures. They are so young, and I just wanted him to know no matter what, I care and we’re here,” she said.
The producers RHOBH’s After Show also asked Kathy Hilton whether the separation between Kyle and Mauricio had affected her relationship with Kyle. Kathy responded thoughtfully, acknowledging how their bond has deepened in recent months. “That’s a good point,” she said. “She knows that I am there for her and she needs me and I need her. But I’d rather her have her marriage because that relationship is more important than anything.”
