Mary Cosby, star of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City, shared an emotional update on her son Robert Jr.’s recovery from substance abuse. Speaking candidly with host Andy Cohen, Mary Cosby revealed that Robert Jr. had recently completed a month-long stay in a rehabilitation facility, and she couldn’t be more proud of his progress.

“He did go to rehab. He stayed for a month. He completed it. He did an excellent job. He came out a new person,” the 52-year-old mother said, visibly moved. It’s clear that Mary has been through an emotional rollercoaster, but her pride and love for her son shone through in her words.

Robert Jr.’s journey hasn’t been easy. The 21-year-old opened up on the November 27th episode of Real Housewives of Salt Lake City, where he shared the pain behind his substance abuse and mental health struggles. For him, addiction began innocently enough – a party, some Xanax, and before he knew it, a dangerous mix of drugs, including Molly, acid, and cocaine, had taken hold of his life.

His powerful confession resonated deeply with fans, many of whom were struck by the vulnerability he showed while speaking to his mother. “When I get high, it’s like adding seasoning to it,” Robert Jr. explained. “Life is just chicken unseasoned.” It was a raw and eye-opening moment, one that showcased the challenges so many face in battling addiction, especially when compounded by mental health issues.

In the interview with Andy Cohen, Mary also revealed that Robert Jr.’s wife, Alexiana Cosby, is still in rehab, continuing her own recovery journey. She expressed how proud she was of Robert Jr.’s strength and progress, but also admitted that the road to healing isn’t always linear.

For Mary, the conversation with her son wasn’t planned. As she told Cohen and Everett, “We just came together, Robert and I, and I said, ‘We’re gonna do this because we’re gonna help someone.’” The moment was powerful not only for the Cosby family but for anyone watching who may be struggling with similar issues.
