Real Housewives of Potomac star Candiace Dillard Bassett is expecting her first child.
The former housewife announced last month that she was leaving the Real Housewives of Potomac and taking a break adding that she had “new responsibilities on my plate.”

Candiace Dillard Bassett has now shared the big news telling ET, “I am about 13 weeks … so just about into the second trimester. It’s been weird, but also really wonderful, I think, to keep it kind of to ourselves to this point.”
Candiace notes that she hasn’t told many people but immediate family saying, “Our immediate family knows, my mom — I told my mom on her birthday in February — my dad knows, [Chris’] parents know, my siblings know and that is my core, best friend group, but outside of that it’s just been, like, kind of quietly just growing a bun”
Candiace Dillard Bassett opens up about when she would know she was ready explaining, “I always wondered, like, how would I know when I was ready? And I always felt like a part of my anxiety was that I wasn’t sure that I would know, and when I knew, it was undeniable. I kind of woke up and realized that I was never going to be 100 percent ready. I just had to … trust the process and trust my doctors and stop being afraid and just do it. So once we decided together that we were going to do that — together — it just was kind of all moving by faith from there.”

Candiace reveals she underwent implantation in January, “Our doctor called us at 8 a.m. and she tells us that we’re pregnant,” Candiace shares. “We waited and waited and waited all this time, so to finally hear that, after those two weeks, the process has worked after a year of doing the shots. … I did two rounds of egg retrieval. To do the shots in your stomach, I had to do the shots in my bum bum every day — which was not always fun — and to finally have it all pay off was amazing.”

Candiace says she looks forward to the mom community adding, “I’m looking forward to the community, the mom community. It’s a space I’ve kind of been peering into from the outside, most of my friends and my cousins have kids. I’ve helped raise and change diapers and babysit all of my cousins’ kids, so it’s just gonna be fun to be a part of that community and, you know, to learn and grow as a member now.”
Candiace may come back to the Real Housewives of Potomac after she gives birth as she announced she isn’t gone for good, “This is not a farewell, but a ‘see you later.’ “

Now THIS is the only reason I’d care to see her back on the show. As much as I dislike her, I was always hoping her wishes to become a mother would come true.
I don’t understand criticizing someone who passionately wants to succeed?
Congratulations Candiace and Chris, taking a break from the show means your priorities are in the right place.
Congratulations to Candice, I believe she will be a great mother and probably a helicopter mom.
I think that’s why she left the show.
It’s a good thing that she’s no longer in the show it will cause her unnecessary stress which might cause her to lose the baby.
Congrats to Candace. Living life well is BEST way to GO (LYING & living with a known cheat like Juan Dixon is NOT) Bye Robyn, does someone have a cry-angle for her?
They may as well start stocking up on the Ritalin now.
Motherhood can sometimes change people, when you see how your actions affect your kids. Fingers crossed for her. https://media0.giphy.com/media/4jAtFuvmhaVyPwr47m/giphy-downsized-small.mp4
Fingers crossed for sure!
This is the last person who should have been procreating, just from her comments this season and the stuff she’s said about her castmate’s children. She is a horrible human being. I agree with Sept24, Chris will be the one taking care of the child while Lil-Miss-I-Need-All-The-Attention has her time in whatever small stage light she can find. Acting like she sold out Madison Square Garden, when she performed at a lil 1200 seat venue…smh.
He will be the one taking care of the child. She’s too busy looking in the mirror. Looking for applause. Playing rock star on stage.
I wouldn’t count on him either … neither one of them strike me as parent material.
