RHOBH Alum Lisa Vanderpump Accused of Lying About PUMP Closure; Landlord Denies Rent Increase While Suggesting Payments Were Missed

Liar, liar, pants on fire?! RHOBH alum Lisa Vanderpump is being accused of lying about the closure of her West Hollywood restaurant, PUMP.

As AllAboutTRH previously reported, Lisa Vanderpump announced on May 4 that her longtime WeHo hotspot PUMP would be closing its doors after ten years.

The WeHo hotspot opened its doors in 2014 to rave reviews. The restaurant will have one “last hurrah” for Pride month in June before PUMP officially closes in July.

In a statement, the Pump Rules star said:

“It’s with heavy hearts that we announce that the lease at Pump Restaurant is expiring, and we will be closing its doors on July 5th, after ten years of beautiful evenings under our olive trees. While we have loved our time operating Pump, to take on another 10-year lease with a huge increase in rent by the landlords is not something we are ready to commit to. After successfully running 37+ establishments for many years, this type of rent is untenable.”

At the time, Lisa blamed the closure on an increase in rent; however, not the landlord for PUMP is telling a different story.

Lisa’s landlord released a statement on the closure of PUMP to Deadline. In the statement, the landlord claims that PUMP has struggled since the pandemic while denying claims of an increase in rent. The landlord also suggests that rent payments were missed.

The statement read:

“Lisa’s comments regarding the rent for Pump are not accurate. We did not raise the rent and, in fact, have been nothing but supportive as they tried to catch up on lease obligations, including forgiving some rent during Covid.”

Despite the closure of PUMP, Lisa still has two thriving restaurants in West Hollywood – SUR and Tom Tom. She is also in the process of opening two new restaurants in Las Vegas.

Pump Rules airs on Wednesdays at 9 pm on Bravo.

At the moment, it is unclear whether Lisa Vanderpump has made any official statements addressing the accusations. The situation is still developing, and updates may be available through reliable news sources.

The landlord is lying. Commercial rents in that area have gone up dramatically and after a ten year lease the rent would have risen to align with current rates

He's lying. Rents on Santa Monica Blvd in WeHo have gone up. I know for a fact that LVP has been negotiating for months regarding the rent and/or purchase of the building. #TeamLVP

A landlord that doesn’t increase rent upon renewal??? He would be the first in history….

I know many landlords who don't increase the rent when a new lease is signed or just continue the original lease terms if the tenant has been a good one. Apparently, LVP has not been, given the fact she does not make her lease payments.

I AM a landlord. Rents have gone up 25-30% over the past two years. If the restaurant is 10 years old, the increase is going to be huge.

I too am a landlord of multiple properties and I have not increased rents to any of my tenants in the past 3 years. I have good renters and if you look after them, they will look after you in return.

I’m in corporate commercial management, not residential. Things work much differently.

thank you both for being the reason that the middle class is disappering and making it near impossible to find an affordable place to run a business or have a roof off your head.

The market sets the rates. It’s a business.

Lisa has never spoken the entire truth since she has graced our tv screens 14 years ago. Nothing is ever her fault. She ALWAYS throws someone else under the bus for her actions. It would have been better to say “ PUMP’s landlord & I have decided to part ways. We thank him for 10 wonderful years.”

100% agree with everything you said!
