Scheana Shay is explaining why she is not rushing to join The Valley, and a big part of it has to do with the unresolved drama surrounding Lala Kent.
During a new episode of Scheananigans, Scheana opened up about why she did not come back to The Valley, despite the fact that the show would be an easy fit on paper. Scheana is already friends with several cast members, she has history with the group, and longtime Vanderpump Rules fans know she has been connected to the Valley crowd for years.
But according to Scheana, timing and mental health played a major role in her decision.
“It just didn’t feel like the right time,” Scheana said. “I’m just not sure that’s where the next chapter of my story belongs. It didn’t feel right. Maybe in the future, but last year where I was at, it didn’t feel right.”
Scheana admitted that from a storyline perspective, her joining The Valley would make sense. But emotionally, she is not sure it is worth it.
“It does feel like it would be so easy. It makes so much sense. I’m friends with most of them,” Scheana said. “I’ve also had some rude awakenings about some over the past year.”
And while Scheana made it clear her hesitation is not only about Lala, she did say there are still unresolved issues.
“There’s some unresolved things,” Scheana explained. “And I mean, I think from a storytelling perspective, it would be an organic fit. It would make sense. But it’s also tolling on your mental health. And it’s like at what cost? Like am I ready to jump back in and do that again?”
Scheana said she is not closing the door on Bravo or The Valley completely, but she is also not waking up eager to jump back into the chaos.
“I never say never but I don’t know,” Scheana said. “Regardless of what I do next, Bravo is always going to be home for me, you know? So I want The Valley to succeed. I want my friends to all succeed. I just don’t know that I like, I’m waking up like yeah, I’m ready to do this.”
When guest Ryan Bailey joked that he does not know who wakes up excited to do reality TV drama after doing it for so many years, Scheana immediately threw a little shade.
“Lala. That’s who,” Scheana said.
She then referenced Lala saying she misses going “toe to toe” with people.
That comment hits differently because Lala has received plenty of criticism from viewers this season for how hard she came for certain cast members and for what fans saw as a very produced approach to the drama.
Scheana then got even more direct when discussing The Valley reunion.
“Here’s the thing, watching the reunion felt very performative to me,” Scheana said.
She compared what she saw from Lala at The Valley reunion to the same pattern viewers watched for years on Vanderpump Rules.
“And for those who have watched Vanderpump Rules, they’ve seen the same pattern where she just wreaks havoc all season and then it’s like, oh, I’m so sorry. Forgive me. Let’s be friends. And then like I would forgive her,” Scheana explained.
Scheana said that dynamic became a repeated cycle in her friendship with Lala.
“And then it was just like rinse and repeat,” she said. “And it was this cycle that I was with her.”
The context behind Scheana and Lala’s fallout came up during The Valley reunion, when Lala addressed sharing private information about Brock Davies’ past cheating. According to Peacock, Lala revealed in the extended reunion that the rift started after she told a friend about Brock’s affair before Scheana’s memoir was released, and that information later spread beyond the original conversation.
Scheana has said that Lala told Jenna Willis about Brock cheating on her while she was pregnant. Scheana also revealed that Janet Caperna told Brittany Cartwright about the same private information, leaving Scheana feeling betrayed by two of her closest friends.
Lala’s explanation at the reunion was that she told Jenna because Jenna was allegedly going hard on Scheana, and Lala wanted to humanize what Scheana was going through. But Scheana has made it clear that even if Lala felt her intentions were good, it was still not her place to share something so personal.
On Scheananigans, Scheana said the reunion tears would have felt more believable if Lala had reached out to her after filming.
“Here’s what would have made me believe those tears,” Scheana said. “Is if that day, the day that our daughters graduated school together and she’s filming the reunion and all of those feelings come up, maybe on your lunch break, maybe later that night be like, hey, I know the girls graduated today and like this new chapter or whatever. I just want you to know like some stuff got brought up on the reunion today. Again, I’m so sorry for my part.”
Instead, Scheana says she heard nothing from Lala.
“But the fact that she’s never reached out after filming the reunion two months ago, never said anything, never gave me a heads up,” Scheana said.
That silence is part of why Scheana says she was not buying what she watched at the reunion.
Scheana also said she felt like the majority of the audience was not buying it either.
