The hits just keep coming for Tom Girardi.
The former famed attorney can add a new lawsuit to his ever-growing legal woes.
According to Radar Online, Tom’s ex-wife Karen Girardi has sued him over unpaid spousal support.
Karen was awarded $10k a month in her 1989 divorce from Tom. She demands the court update the lien she placed against Tom’s $10 million Pasadena mansion.
The original lien was for $95k; however, Karen now says the lien needs to be updated to $245k due to Tom neglecting to pay the court-ordered spousal support for years. Tom’s ex-wife initially took him to court in 2020 after he stopped paying her spousal support; she demanded the court find him in contempt and order him to pay the unpaid support.
In her court filing, Karen claims she tried to work out a deal with her ex when he asked her to lower the payments from $10k a month to $5k.
Tom allegedly claimed he was “tired of paying and felt it was long enough.” No deal was ever reached, and Tom eventually paid a portion of the owed back spousal support.
However, Karen insists Tom then began to miss payments again. She claims he failed to pay $5k for May and $20k for July and August. He also didn’t pay support for September until June 2022.
Despite Karen’s recent filing, her battle with Tom will continue to live on the back burner amid the once famed attorney’s long list of legal issues. In 2020, Tom was forced into Chapter 7 bankruptcy by his creditors. As a result, a trustee overseeing the bankruptcy case has taken over Tom’s assets and finances.
Tom is accused of using client money to fund his and his now-estranged wife Erika Jayne’s lavish lifestyle.
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills airs on Wednesdays at 8 pm on Bravo.
