Two Real Housewives of New York favorites have landed their own reality TV show.
Page Six reveals that Luann de Lesseps and Sonja Morgan have scored a Simple Life-esque reality show. Nicole Richie and Paris Hilton infamously starred in Fox’s The Simple Life from 2003 to 2007.
A source close to production reveals that the reality TV show will take the glamourous gal pals from New York City and move them to Middle America to “mingle with the regular folk.”
Paperwork for the show is reportedly signed. Sonja and Lu are set to begin filming the show in July. The show is “still technically in development but it’s considered a lock to get green-lit any day now.”
While Luann appeared in season one of Bravo’s spinoff The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip, this is the first time either she or Sonja have fronted their own spinoff show.
Bethenny Frankel is the only other New York Housewife to ever score a spinoff show. The Skinnygirl founder starred in two RHONY spinoffs. “Bethenny Ever After” aired from 2010 to 2012 while “Bethenny and Fredrik” aired for one season in 2018.
“Luann and Sonja of course will be their fabulous selves and each episode will have them interacting with the locals,” the source explained. “They don’t know the locations yet, but it’s going to be somewhere like Kansas or Nebraska, not some hipster Southern town. [Executives] have been holding the locations even from the gals until the last minute.”
The source adds that there will be around 10 episodes with some celebrity pop-ins. The show will either air on Bravo or Peacock.
Luann and Sonja are also expected to be a part of The Real Housewives of New York: Legacy.
