Kelly Dodd Says Bravo Should’ve ‘Better Vetted’ Disgraced RHOSLC Star Jennie Nguyen

Kelly Dodd isn’t a stranger to controversy so it’s not surprising to hear that she’s weighing in on disgraced Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star Jennie Nguyen.

The former Real Housewives of Orange County star thinks Bravo should’ve done a better job vetting Jennie before bringing her onto the RHOSLC cast. The network ultimately “ceased filming” with Jennie on Tuesday, January 25 after her insensitive Facebook posts from 2020 resurfaced.

“Should they have better vetted Jennie? Probably. But that’s on them,” Kelly said on Thursday’s episode of her podcast,Rick and Kelly’s Unmasked.”

“This is about Bravo and Andy Cohen, not me. This is their brand and their business. If they feel they need to fire her, that’s their decision. I don’t work for them anymore. I did, and they fired me, and a lot of people think they fired me for the wrong reasons but that was Bravo’s choice,” she continued.

Kelly went on to insist that she’s not racist despite previously wearing a “Drunk Wives Matter,” hat and making other controversial statements over the years. She noted that she doesn’t want to be “lump[ed]” in with Jennie even though she was also fired by the network.

“Don’t lump me in with this chick,” she said. “I don’t know her and I’m not getting involved in what she did or didn’t say. I don’t know if she’s racist but I do know I am not!”

She added, “I know what racism feels like. I grew up Mexican on the west side of Phoenix with a very diverse group of friends, and I still have a very diverse group of friends.”

The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City airs on Sundays at 9 p.m. ET.
