Newest RHOC housewife Lydia McLaughlin finally met all the ladies on Monday’s past episode and things got ugly! Lydia talks about Tamra’s dinner saying Gretchen was very cold and unfriendly with her plus talks Alexis VS Heather!
"All aboard the crazy train!
I'm officially a Housewife. . .and I have an orange! Hooray! YOLO (You Only Live Once) is my "catchphrase," and is basically why I decided to do the show. It seems to be my motto in this season of my life. I am excited for this journey and opportunity and am grateful you are on it with me.
When Alexis came over and we had a playdate at my house, I mentioned my meeting with Heather. I went on to mention the whole diamond ring thing because I knew it would come out eventually, so I was trying to be direct with her. I think it is insightful to watch yourself back on video -- not everyone gets to do this in life. I am trying to take this gift as a learning opportunity. Evidently, not only am I a hugger but I am also a laugher. I seem to laugh in awkward situations or when I am a bit uncomfortable. I obviously am uncomfortable asking Alexis about her "fake" diamond ring, but I also wanted to know why Heather would tell me this and if it is true.
Speaking of awkward. . .the dinner with the Dubrows was not actually awkward at all. It was a fabulous dinner. Heather and I got along really well, and we all laughed and had a great time. I think the whole magazine "cover" drama was blown way out of proportion. Heather is obviously beautiful and would make a great cover. She demonstrates elegance and class. However, we were not looking for a cover feature at that time. We only have four issues a year and the cover gets secured quickly.
Heather asking for the cover shows she is media savvy and confident. Heather and I are so OK with all of it. The Dubrow's ended up doing the architectural feature and you can see it in our latest issue of Beverly Hills Lifestyle (and online at BHLmag.com). It turned out amazing and it was a pleasure to work with them.
The topic of Slade's son Grayson is very sad. I can't imagine what they have gone through and continue to go through. We pray for Grayson and his family for strength and love in such a hard situation. I can't imagine the hard moments they face every day and my heart does go out to them.
The night of the CUT party was hard for me to experience. Watching it on TV, it's a dramatic, entertaining episode of a TV show. . .however, living through it was intense and shocking.
Meeting Vicki was fun and in a lot of ways I feel like we are kindred spirits. It was the "woo hoos" uniting us, and I've been having fun with her ever since. Before we all even walk into the party I'm "guilty by association," as Tamra declares. It is cool to see Heather trying to back me up, and it is much appreciated. I also like that Heather is trying to see the good in Alexis and even offers the idea to the ladies that maybe Alexis wants to make up and gives her the 'benefit of the doubt."
When we do show up, it was nerve-racking. Heather made a big effort to get up and come greet me. That made me feel a little at ease. It may seem like a small gesture, but I remember that night and it made me feel very good, like she had my back. Tamra also got up and showed Alexis and me around. She was a gracious host and at first I felt like the ice was maybe broken and we would have a good night. . .
Once we all sat down the tensions began to rise again. Gretchen wouldn't even look our way. Watching it back now, I see that she obviously has a lot of issues with Alexis and I was just feeling that energy. However, that night, I felt like she was cold and unfriendly and didn't want me around. She clearly has a lot going on in her personal life but I didn't know any of this. All I knew is I'm new to this group of woman and she would barely look look at me, yet alone talk to me. When I tried to engage her all I got was one word answers.
Once the fighting began I am like a deer in headlights. I had never experienced anything life this. I was not mentally prepared for such passionate feelings of anger, hurt, and bitterness. Again, I laugh at an inappropriate time. Heather says, "I just glazed" and Alexis declares, "Me too." They both make this dramatic hand movement. I seriously am just overwhelmed and can't believe this is happening all around me and that I'm right in the middle of it all. I have a lot of respect for Heather and Alexis, so to see them upset I was taken aback. I was not anticipating all this tension and apparently my go to is laughter. . .again. If I could go back and re-do this night, there is obviously a lot of changes I would make. If only life were that simple.
Yikes. We haven't even left the building yet. I can't wait to see how this turns out -- and I lived through it!"
I'm really liking Lydia so far. Thoughts on what she had to say? How are you liking Lydia?
Dinner parties from hell are obviously the thing to do in Housewives, and Real Housewives of Orange County jumped on the bandwagon this week. If this is what it takes to spice up the season, however, then so be it! And that’s just what the dinner did. Before the party, though, we start off the new episode with a clear editing snafu.
Alexis arrives at Vicki’s and they each comment on their new looks – Alexis’s new hair cut and Vicki’s new face. Umm, last week Alexis came over to meet baby Troy so why today are they seeing each other for the first time? Your plot hole is showing, Bravo, and it ain’t cute!
Vicki invites Alexis to the dinner at Tamra’s new fitness studio space as her date. Alexis is hesitant, but Vicki convinces her to go. Alexis will also invite Lydia. How convenient!
We catch up with Heather, who is doing a radio gig for KFI where she will be discussing parenting topics. This week she is discussing bullying on air. How appropriate! Heather says that Alexis has been accusing her, Tamra, and Gretchen of bullying, but she denies this.
Heather tells a story of how she was bullied in high school. She says what Alexis experienced was NOT bullying. Do you agree?
Over at Lydia’s house, Alexis arrives with her kids for a play date. Right away, Lydia tells Alexis that she met Heather and that she said Alexis has a fake diamond ring. Alexis does not take too kindly to Heather’s comments.
Alexis gives Lydia her side of the story with Heather, and then invites her to Tamra’s dinner party at the fitness studio. Lydia quickly accepts the invite. I usually hate when people complain about the obvious acting on these shows, but I just can’t with the obvious acting, you guys!
At night, the Dubrow’s meet the McLaughlin’s for dinner to discuss the possibility of being on Beverly Hills Lifestyle magazine, the magazine they own and operate. Doug says they can not be on the cover because they aren’t a “household name”, which is honest, but kind of rude. I think I would be a tiny bit offended, even if it were true. Heather and Terry deny the offer to be featured without the cover spot.
The couples continue to chat and it turns out Lydia’s mom, Terry’s patient, now lives in Alexis’s old house. She reveals she will hang out with Alexis at Tamra’s dinner party. Heather is a bit taken aback to learn that Alexis is coming, but assures Lydia that she will be fine and will not be judged based on who she comes with, who just happens to be the enemy!
Gretchen is with Slade, who is flying off to NYC for his son’s major surgery. Gretchen complains about being away from Slade because she is used to being with him daily. Really? Way to make his son’s health about you. She then cries about Slade never opening up to her. But aren’t they wanting to get married? I don’t get their logic.
It’s the day of the anticipated dinner party and Tamra is at home with Eddie trying to coordinate her outfit. She is snapping at him and it’s because she’s pissed off at herself for allowing Alexis to come. She then reveals she’s mad at Vicki for putting her in this situation, and she is going to go poop to relieve her anger. Eddie then tells her to flush, and now I’m a little grossed out.
Gretchen comes to Heather’s house and they chat over a glass of “champs” before heading out to the party. They wonder why Alexis would even come to Tamra’s party after threatening to sue her while not reaching out to talk their issues out in over nine months. They arrive at CUT fitness studio which is all dressed up and looks gorgeous for an empty space that is under construction!
Lydia arrives at Alexis’s new house and they will be riding together. They stop by Vicki’s and she meets Lydia for the first time.
A psychic medium is at CUT to get rid of negative energy and bless, I guess, the new business. She anticipates a smooth ride this evening, and Tamra, girl, you need to ask for your money back. The psychic clearly does not know what type of show is being filmed.
Tamra has a pow-wow with her BFF’s about Alexis. She is nauseous about seeing Alexis. Heather thinks Alexis might be trying to make peace while Gretchen thinks that’s impossible. Alexis, Lydia, and Vicki arrive and right away I get chills because you just know some sh*t’s about to pop off! It’s the most uncomfortable thing and I am not even involved in this.
Alexis is very polite and greets everyone, but is not fake, nor phony about seeing the girls. Tamra is also very cordial, giving Lydia and Alexis a tour of what the studio will end up looking like when it’s finished. Even after a glimpse of hope, though, it’s still very awkward and the tension is quite clear.
There is a clear separation and I feel like I’m watching Mean Girls, but with middle aged women. This comparison is even more clear when Gretchen is a complete bitch towards Lydia for no reason. All I can think of is the future reunion and the seating arrangements: Tamra and the Mean Girls on one couch and Vicki with the unpopular girls one the other.
Tamra discusses her new business and Vicki just says that it’s across the street from her insurance offices. Gretchen makes a dig that Vicki is making this about herself. How? Vicki then refers to her grandson Troy as “my baby” and Gretchen also bitches about that.
Vicki calls her a stupid person and I have to agree. Why nitpick that? We all know what Vicki meant by referring to her grandson as “my baby” and for Gretchen to jump on that to bash Vicki is quite stupid.
Dinner is served and Tamra tries to make a little introductory speech. Vicki interjects and thanks Tamra for allowing Alexis to come. Tamra loses her filter (it took her long enough!) and tells Alexis that she’s surprised she would show up!
Alexis responds that Tamra didn’t have to allow her. Things quickly heat up and Gretchen jumps in telling Alexis to leave! So basically it’s stay and get harassed, or get the hell out. What is wrong with Gretchen this episode?
The bullying is starting again according to Alexis, and Heather says not to point fingers at her! Alexis denies even looking at Heather, and I believe Alexis is right here. Alexis wasn’t even addressing Heather.
Alexis asks them to “stop with the bullying” and Heather and Tamra cackle and clink their wine glasses, which is just beyond catty. Heather and Alexis go at it and all of a sudden the three “mean girls” are digging at Alexis. I have to say, Alexis held her own very well while remaining a decent human being.
Tamra calmly tells Alexis that she was gracious to allow her in. Alexis says she just wanted to come with Vicki since they are all on rocky ground. Tamra is irritated that Alexis is victimizing. Gretchen brings up Alexis ganging up on Vicki in San Francisco, and Alexis defends her stance back then!
Side note: Why in the hell is Gretchen using Alexis and Vicki’s feuding past against her? Couldn’t this also be thrown back at her in regard to her new “friendship” with Tamra? Those two hated each other. Let me just remind myself that this is Housewives and hypocrisy is to be expected.
The touchy Costa Rica intervention comes up and then Heather says that Alexis does not own up to anything she does. Tamra defends Heather, and Alexis makes the mistake of asking Tamra to “butt out!” This triggers the bomb inside Tamra and she explodes!
Tamra swings into a rage and screams at Alexis to “get out!” and then basically throws her out. For a minute, I thought she was going to physically launch her out of the studio! Alexis gets up and is walking away as Tamra screams at Vicki and makes her pick a side or else she should get the hell out too!
I know there is back and forth amongst viewers as to whether or not Alexis is being bullied. I am completely against “bullying” being used as a term on Housewives shows because I think the ladies should know what they are signing up for. I do believe Alexis was verbally abused and harassed in this situation.
The episode ends and next week we will pick back up at the dinner party where Vicki and Gretchen then exchange words! Lydia tries to tell Alexis that she is not being bullied and Alexis claims she had to be on Xanax over the alleged bullying she was put through.
Vicki also deals with her personal life as her family comes into town and questions her about her relationship status, and Tamra hits a little slump with Eddie as far as their pending wedding goes!
Let’s discuss this week’s episode! Do you think Tamra, Gretchen and Heather were unnecessarily harsh to Alexis? Did Alexis deserve it?
Real Housewives of Atlanta star Porsha Stewart was blindsided by her husband’s divorce filing, and she is finally opening up and discussing it in her first TV interview since the news broke out – and looks rather glowing and ravishing post-divorce!
Porsha appeared on Watch What Happens Live last night, and she reveals details of learning about the divorce on Twitter, how she confronted Kowardell about the news, and also dishes that they are still living under the same roof!
Porsha tells Andy, “I went to Twitter and the first thing I see is ‘Kordell divroces from Porsha.’ And I was like, ‘This is a crazy joke!'” Andy then asks in shock, “You found out on Twitter?!” Porsha replies, “I found out from Twitter.”
Porsha then went into the next room where Kordell was and asked if it was true! “I asked him, had he filed? And just a long story short, I felt very disappointed. Very disappointed and let down.” Porsha reveals that she confirmed with her lawyer that he had filed and was heartbroken when she learned that it really was true.
Above all this, Porsha and Kordell are still living in the same house which we saw them share on RHOA! Porsha adds, “It’s a difficult, difficult situation right now. This is something that I did not want at all! I had asked, ‘Can we work this out? Can we go to counseling?’ What you saw at the reunion was a wife, trying her last try. When you are married, I feel like you need to put your 150% into your marriage no matter what. And if it doesn’t work, you need to be able to walk away and say ‘I tried’ no matter what.”
Porsha clearly took her vow seriously, and now she feels very betrayed, but remains strong! Watch the full video below:
Are you surprised the estranged couple are still living in the same house even though Porsha has tons of family and friends in Atlanta?
Many viewers often wonder about the authenticity of reality TV shows, especially when it comes to shows like Real Housewives. Andy Cohen, the man behind these shows, sheds some light on this. While certain aspects are contrived, such as scheduling and encouraging interactions, the actual events that occur when the cameras start rolling are real.
According to Andy Cohen, the actions and reactions of the Real Housewives are not set up by the ladies themselves. However, there have been claims that production guides the ladies on what to say and how to react to certain events. The extent of production’s influence on the show is a topic of discussion.
The level of actual reality in Real Housewives shows can be subjective. While the events captured on camera are real, there are certain elements that are contrived for the sake of entertainment and scheduling. Andy Cohen emphasizes that the casting of the show and the interactions between the ladies are the true essence of the series.
The third installment of the Real Housewives of Atlanta reunion aired and I was pleasantly surprised. I think the reunions should be capped at two episodes max, but the husbands made the third part watchable! Andy picks up telling the women that they went easy on Kim. NeNe reveals a text message exchange between she and Kim that had occurred moments after Kim left the stage. It was super cute and a preface to their public reconciliation.
After discussing Kandi and Todd’s blossoming, solid relationship, Andy then brings up a relationship that was quite opposite – Walter and Kenya’s. Andy gives Kenya the chance to clarify Walter’s claims that he was asked by Kenya to “play the role” of her boyfriend to guarantee her a storyline on the show.
NeNe says she never felt they were a genuine couple because of the lack of chemistry. Phaedra says it was odd to her, because Kenya felt very free to flirt with every man she saw even though she claimed to be ready to marry Walter.
Andy asks about the comments Kenya made about Walter on the show regarding his sexuality and other intimacies. Kenya admits that she does not regret making such comments. Cynthia confronts Kenya about wanting to marry Walter even though she had never even had slept with him. Now, I don’t know Kenya’s religious beliefs but I’m sure she is not some wholesome lady saving herself for her wedding night!
Kenya then says she was disgusted by Phaedra calling her a whore. She said it was one of the most disgusting things she has ever heard. REALLY?! ARE YOU F*CKING KIDDING ME? I can’t with Kenya, you guys! Remember when she told a magazine that Honey Boo Boo was like a glorified hooker? I rest my case.
Andy then asks about Kenya’s love life today. She breaks into tears because she is just so happy. What a drama queen. Andy asks for the deets, but Kenya says she doesn’t want to talk about it. Kenya turning down an opportunity to talk about it? Something tells me it’s not as great as she is making it out to be with her fake tears. I guess she has cast a new boy for season six.
All the “househusbands”, minus Kenya’s and Porsha’s, are brought out on stage. They all basically came through for Walter! I was very impressed with the men because they literally called Kenya out for all the B.S. she spewed all season. They handed Kenya her stallion booty on a silver platter and all she could do was get up and sing “Gone With The Wind Fabulous” while twirling. She’s so embarrassing.
Apollo states that he doesn’t even care for Kenya after having had their business deal fall through. Kenya blurts out that maybe Apollo should stop texting her, then! Apollo outs Kenya as trying to get with him, texting and stalking him in hotels. Kenya claims that it’s always Apollo who had initiated any flirtatious text conversations, and Peter asks her why, if that were the case, she would entertain the idea knowing that Apollo is a married man! Kenya remains embarrassing. Cue the fan.
Kordell was not able to attend the reunion. According to Porsha he had a work commitment that day. Porsha defends that Kordell is not controlling and that we did not get to see their entire marriage. She goes into a long rant about not feeling supported by the women. She says she came on the show looking up to the other ladies, and expecting them to uplift her as a wife.
Porsha also revealed that her marriage, at the time, was not perfect but that she had taken an oath to be with Kordell and that she would carry that out to the fullest. It’s really sad considering Kordell was probably working with his divorce lawyer behind her back while she said these things. Porsha then showed off her singing voice at Andy’s request, and it wasn’t “Housewife terrible” to be honest!
Andy ends the reunion praising the women for bringing a new, positive, and funny energy to RHOA that he had never seen on the show before. NeNe says that she enjoyed the season a lot, but states that the show needs to replace a current Housewife!
Let’s discuss the reunion finale! Do you think Apollo is guilty of giving into Kenya’s flirting? Do you believe Porsha and Kordell could have worked through their marital bumps? Who do you think NeNe wants replaced?
We all can’t wait for the ladies of Real Housewives of New Jersey to invade our TV’s once again and Bravo is teasing us with this promo for the new season!
The promo video is titled “Family Is A Force Of Nature” and features the ladies planting a tree, nurturing it, watching it grow, etc. Check out the clip below:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1H9v2DyXliQ
I like the idea of this promo, but I think whoever produced this could have done such a better job! The RHOBH season three promo was perfection, whereas this RHONJ promo feels very “home-made”. I mean, can we at least get some costume changes for the girls?! Nonetheless, I am excited for the new season!
What do you think of the RHONJ promo clip?
On Mondays episode of The Real Housewives of Orange County, newest housewife Lydia Mclaughlin asked Heather Dubrow to let her photograph her home for Beverly Hills Lifestyle Magazine. Lydia owns the mag with her husband Doug. Heather wasn’t feeling it because she felt that she had to be on the cover. Once Lydia found out how Heather felt she told her husband who said only big stars get the cover.
On Heather’s Bravo blog she decided to call out Doug and Lydia for using Lisa for a cover claiming she’s not an international star. Heather wrote,
“I had never heard of Lydia’s magazine, however I didn’t look down my nose at it. My friend Kacey told me that the McLaughlins were good people. Thats why I took the meeting. Terry and I had no interest in having our house photographed for a magazine.
We asked for the cover because we decided that it would help our local advertising. An inside story would just be a vanity piece that we didn’t need at the time. Also, Lisa Vanderpump from RHOBH had recently been on the cover. Sorry, Doug, I love Lisa, but she doesn’t match with your explanation of the cover being an international superstar.”
Lisa decided to correct Heather via twitter saying, “@HeatherDubrow true darling as you state I am not an “international superstar” I had the cover as I have written for the magazine from day 1.”
Heather responded, “Sorry love, meant no disrespect-I’m a big fan of yours. Just that they said it had to be someone of Movie star status.”
Lisa then said, “understand, if you look at magazine I am and always have been a contributor..clearly not a movie star tho..:)”
I don’t think Lisa needed to acknowledge what Heather said. Heather was just explaining that Lisa is also a real housewife. Thoughts on the situation? Should Heather have used Lisa as an example?
The last installment of the season five Real Housewives of Atlanta reunion will show some of the “Househusbands” dishing out their thoughts on the season. Of course, Kenya Moore and Apollo’s flirting will be brought up!
Andy asks Apollo how he feels about Kenya now that all the drama between she and his wife Phaedra has transpired. Apollo says he doesn’t care for Kenya and then Kenya drops a bombshell! She says Apollo needs to stop texting her. The two get into it, and Apollo spills the tea.
Apollo claims that Kenya has been trying to come stay at his hotels when he’s traveling and claiming that she will do things with him that Phaedra can’t do! Check it out:
I sure hope this is not true because if so, Kenya really is trash. Do you believe Kenya or Apollo?
Many people wonder why all these Housewives keep getting their own spin-off shows! Most have come out of the RHOA franchise (Kim, Kandi, Phaedra’s in development, possibly NeNe), one from RHOBH (Lisa), and one from RHONY (Bethenny). But why these women? What is so special about them that Bravo decided, ‘Hey! Let’s give them their own show without their Housewife cast mates’?
Andy is spilling how these ladies landed their own shows on the network. He explains to The Wrap, “Phaedra does a lot of other things outside of the “Housewives” show. Kandi is a songwriter. Lisa has restaurants. So, these are other things that the women do in their real lives that lend themselves to seeing more of them. I think that the women just living their lives, that’s what they do on the “Housewives.” The shows that we’ve picked up have been because the women have other things going on. Kim’s show started with her getting married, which is really the natural way to, it lends itself well to another series, you know?”
It only makes sense! Which Housewife would you like to see star in their own spin-off series next?
