The increasingly messy divorce between Denise Richards and Aaron Phypers has taken a dramatic new turn, with Phypers now preparing to call two unexpected names to the witness stand: Richards’ ex-husband Charlie Sheen and her former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills co-star Brandi Glanville.

Witness List Reveals High-Profile Names

According to court documents obtained by PEOPLE, Phypers’ attorney filed a witness list on Monday, September 29, ahead of an upcoming hearing scheduled for October 6 through October 8. The list includes Sheen, 60, and Glanville, 52, who may be called to testify regarding what the filing refers to as Richards’ “history of not being truthful and of drug and alcohol abuse.”

In addition to Sheen and Glanville, the document also names three members of Phypers’ family, Richards’ father, and Richards herself—all of whom may be asked to respond to various allegations and counterclaims that have emerged during the divorce proceedings.

History with Sheen and Glanville

Richards and Sheen were married from 2002 to 2006 and share two daughters, Sami (21) and Lola (20). Despite their tumultuous past, the two appear to be on amicable terms, having posed together at the Los Angeles premiere of Sheen’s Netflix documentary earlier this month.

Glanville, on the other hand, has had a more contentious relationship with Richards. In 2020, she claimed the two had an affair—an allegation Richards has denied. Both women starred on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, and the rumored relationship became a major plot point during Season 10.

A Divorce Marked by Allegations and Restraining Orders

Phypers filed for divorce on July 7, citing “irreconcilable differences” and listing their date of separation as July 4. Since then, both parties have made serious allegations against each other.

Phypers told TMZ that Richards cheated on him with another man, while Richards has accused Phypers of domestic violence—claims that led to her being granted a temporary restraining order. Phypers later responded to the allegations in a statement to PEOPLE, calling them “completely false and deeply hurtful.”

Richards has since accused Phypers of violating the restraining order and demanded that he return her laptop and refrain from sharing any private information stored on it. Phypers has denied taking or using anything inappropriately.

Phypers Compares Divorce to Sheen’s Past Experience

In a statement issued earlier this month, Phypers invoked Charlie Sheen while criticizing Richards’ legal strategy.

“Denise Richards is attempting to humiliate me again, just as she did with her first ex, Charlie Sheen, six years ago today,” he said.

“It is the same vengeance playbook as Charlie said, ‘D and her legal posse only deal in fiction.’ My day in court is painfully overdue. She is behaving like a coward, and the truth will prevail.”

He added, “I, too, will be vindicated when the truth comes out, just as Charlie promised. Our family has been ruined by Denise’s lies of promising to end a year-long affair.”

Richards’ divorce attorney, Brett Berman, has denied the claims regarding an affair, calling them “false.”
