West Wilson’s Summer House exit may not have come as a shock to some fans, but new details are revealing that the writing may have already been on the wall before the reunion even aired.
After a highly controversial season centered around his romance with Amanda Batula, West is officially not returning to Summer House. The decision comes after Season 10 shook the cast dynamic to its core, with West and Amanda’s relationship creating major fallout with Ciara Miller, Kyle Cooke and the rest of the group.
According to Us Weekly, West’s exit was not one-sided.
“It was a mutual decision between the network and West,” a source exclusively told the outlet.
The insider also claimed that West went into the Season 10 reunion “already feeling like his time on the show was coming to an end.”
That detail is especially interesting given how intense the reunion became. Much of the three-part reunion focused on West and Amanda’s relationship, which came after Amanda’s split from husband Kyle Cooke in January. West’s past romance with Ciara Miller, one of Amanda’s closest friends, made the situation even messier.
The backlash was immediate, and the reunion only seemed to make things worse for West.
According to the source, once the reunion aired, it became clear that West’s future on the show was no longer a fit.
“It became even clearer that there wasn’t a long-term fit anymore,” the source said. “He is at peace with the decision and is focusing on his podcast and other business ventures.”
A second source told Us Weekly that there was more behind-the-scenes drama between West and his castmates beyond his controversial romance with Amanda.
That makes sense considering how many relationships were affected by the situation. Ciara felt betrayed by both West and Amanda. Kyle had to process his estranged wife moving on with someone from their own friend group. And other cast members, including Lindsay Hubbard, later called West out publicly for his comments about the show.
West’s exit also lines up with something viewers saw during the special conversation between Kyle and West. During that discussion, which was recorded at the end of May and aired on June 16, West made it clear to Kyle that he was done with filming.
That moment now feels like major foreshadowing.
At the time, West appeared emotionally drained from the fallout and the constant criticism surrounding his relationship with Amanda. His comments suggested that the pressure of being on the show, combined with the backlash from castmates and fans, had taken a serious toll.
West’s relationship with Amanda became one of the most talked-about Bravo scandals of the season.
