Lindsay Hubbard and Carl Radke tried to salvage their relationship with couples therapy in the months leading up to their August split.

Us Weekly reports that Lindsay Hubbard and Carl Radke attempted to repair their troubled relationship with professional help before canceling their November wedding in August.

“Carl had major fundamental issues before the wedding and wanted to take an honest look at them,” a source told the outlet on Monday.

“They had actually seen a counselor. But Carl didn’t think it was a good way to start their forever together.”

The insider adds that drinking was one of the biggest challenges in the Summer House couple’s relationship, as Carl has been sober since January 2021.

“Sobriety was a big issue for him,” the source added. “Lindsay had become sober but then incorporated drinking back into her lifestyle.”

Because of Lindsay Hubbard’s decision to drink again, Carl was “nervous about their future together without figuring things out,” according to the insider.

“Things were not resolved between Carl and Lindsay as the wedding was approaching.”

Earlier this month, Lindsay Hubbard publicly addressed the broken engagement in a statement on Instagram.

The last 2 weeks have been the most heartbreaking and emotional weeks of my life. My entire life and future was ripped out from underneath me, and I’ve had a hard time making sense of it all – with no answers or closure on why,” she wrote via Instagram on September 14. “I feel humiliated by how it went down and simultaneously heartbroken that it happened in the first place. My trust has been betrayed, and coming to terms with that has been difficult for me.”

“I do not agree with quitting a relationship (at this level) without trying everything possible first,” she concluded. “I have spent the last couple of weeks finding my own closure and peace. I am forever grateful to my best friends who have not left my side and have been picking up the pieces of my heart and life every day from the fallout.”

Now, we know that Lindsay is leaning on her girlfriends amid her split with Carl. Lindsay and several of her pals, including her Summer House co-stars Danielle Olivera, Gabby Prescod, and Sam Feher, attended her bachelorette trip to the Bahamas.

Amid the trip, Lindsay gushed about the support and love she’s received from her friends.

The Summer House star wrote:

I didn’t know this amount of love could exist in one photo. I feel completely overwhelmed by my best friends, and their friendship, love, and strength. The way these girls have rallied around me the last 3 weeks, held my hand, sat in showers and cried with me, picked me up, never left my side, never let me feel alone, and then took me on a trip – that was originally planned for completely different reasons – and yet still carried on with this trip because it became more important. I’m beyond blessed and thankful for every single one of these girls. This is a story about sisterhood, and I could not do life without them.

Lindsay and Carl met in 2016 while filming season one of Summer House. The two quickly became friends and had a brief romance during season 4. They remained friends after their failed attempt at dating. In late 2021, Carl and Lindsay started dating – again and later confirmed their relationship in January 2022.

After one year of dating, Carl proposed to Lindsay with a 4.02-carat Nicole Rose diamond ring in August 2022 at Southhampton’s Dune Beach. The moment was captured on camera for season seven of Summer House.

The two were set to tie the knot in Mexico this November before Carl ended their engagement out of the blue.

Summer House is expected to return to Bravo for season 8 in 2024.
