Andy Cohen admits that RHONJ is a major “crossroads” amid Teresa Giudice and Melissa Gorga‘s ongoing family drama.
The Big Daddy of Bravo knows that the RHONJ franchise is at a major “crossroads” thanks toteresa giudice and Melissa gjorga’s irreparable issues. The question on every Bravo fan’s mind is: How does the RHONJ franchise move forward without rehashing Melissa and Teresa’s played-out drama?
Andy admits that Teresa and Melissa’s feud is giving Bravo a lot to think about as they prepare for season 14 of RHONJ.
He chatted about this conundrum on his BFF Kelly Ripa’s new SiriusXM podcast, Let’s Talk Off Camera.
The 54-year-old Watch What Happens Live host explains:
“There are several options. They’re both really popular. I think they’re both walking around with the institutional knowledge that they both have and the institutional hurt feelings, especially Teresa.”
“Teresa let out at the last reunion that she was mad at Melissa for not changing her wedding date because Teresa was pregnant at her wedding and she was a bridesmaid. She didn’t like how she looked. So this is now going back for 15 years.”
He notes that Teresa is “clearly not over” feeling hurt about Melissa and Joe Gorga.
Andy continued:
“I think what’s interesting about it is… they’re both a little right. I think they both have really good points, and I think that’s why it’s not so clearly cut about whose side to be on.“
It’s no secret that Melissa and Joe’s decision to skip Teresa’s August 2022 wedding to Louie Ruelas was the last nail in the coffin of her up-and-down relationship with the Gorgas.
While Teresa and Louie wish Melissa and Joe well, Teresa notes that they are focusing on their own children and family moving forward.
“I wish them well,” Teresa told ET in August 2022. “I just want to focus on our family, our children.”
“It’s a lot of energy spent on things that aren’t important in life,” Louie added, “so we’re here, we’re married, our kids are amazing, our family’s doing really well, and that’s where our focus is.”
At the time, Teresa made it clear she had no immediate plans to reconcile with Joe or Melissa.
“I’m not even thinking about that,” she said. “I’m thinking about just what’s good for me. It’s been a long time that I’ve been dealing with this, a long time, so I just want peace and happiness, and I just want to focus on our family, ’cause, like, all that is, like, negative energy that I don’t need in my life.”
Since then, Teresa has stated that she is “done” with the Gorgas and their long-running family drama. Teresa adds that she doesn’t want to interact with or see Melissa ever again, which leaves Bravo in quite a pickle when it comes to the future of RHONJ.
In recent weeks, both Melissa and Teresa have announced that they each have zero intention of walking away from RHONJ on their own accord.
“I’ve been reading a lot of things saying that I wanna leave the show or I’m no longer going to be on the show. I just want everyone to know, I’m not leaving the show,” Melissa said on the May 4 episode of her “On Display” podcast.
Melissa emphasized that she has “no intentions [of] leaving” RHONJ, which she joined in 2011 during season 3.
As for Teresa, she told Extra‘s Billy Bush in May that she “needs” to come back to RHONJ for season 14 but doesn’t know if she’s locked in yet.
“I need to come back. I have four daughters — one’s going to law school! I don’t even know if I’m coming back! I don’t know if I’m locked in! I gotta check with my lawyer.”
She quickly added: “Hello, I started the show.”
