Apparently there is more to being a housewife than talking poop, looking pretty and inventing drama! RHOD Cary Deuber recently spoke with AOL.com admitting that being a housewife isn’t all its cracked up to be!

Cary states:

It’s been harder than I thought. I’m a nurse, I’m a mom, I’m a friend, I’m a wife and I have a million responsibilities. I’m a certified nurse first assistant, so I operate with my husband. I do injectables for his practice, as well. So, I’m spread pretty thin. And “Housewives” is not just the filming: There’s also a ton of press, and I’m not sure I was totally prepared for that aspect of it.

Further admitting that it’s just not the time constraints, but it can also take a toll on the ladies mentally as well:

I don’t know that I was prepared for some of the negative comments, either, because people can be really mean. I’m so positive; I’m a yogi. Negativity really affects me and goes against my inner self. My whole being, really. It’s shocking to me how negative people can be. That’s definitely been harder than I thought, but everything is part of the journey, and I think you have to go through those darker areas to get to the positive ones.

Cary also states she has it a bit tougher than some of the other ‘wives, as she doesn’t have the SUR staff to run things while she is away, or have a gazillion interns a la Sonja Morgan:

I think that it’s something that’s unique to me, especially compared to other Housewives. It’s hard to hold down two jobs, because being a Housewife on the show is also a job. Actually, I have three jobs, because I’m also a mom! I wanted people to see that I have a strong work ethic, and that I’m a strong, working mother. I think that it’s a nice thing for people to see that they maybe haven’t seen before.

It’s not like I run a business where I can just be like, “You guys do that for me.” I have to actually physically be there to operate at my practice.

Cary also admits that she was a fan before coming on (so hopefully she had some idea of what she was getting herself into):

You have to love some of the train wreck of it all, right? I always loved watching it when I would come home after a long day of operating, and my brain and body were just tired. Nothing better than laying in bed and watching someone else’s life on TV. Like, what did they do today?

I think that’s the really cool thing about “Housewives” and why it’s such an amazing franchise. It truly is real life, and it really is seeing someone else in their real life and seeing how they chose to present themselves.

To say that Dallas has been a bit of a ratings disappointment would be an understatement. Dallas is known for their southern style, loud women and those Texas sized checkbooks which fans seem underwhelmed with so far. Cary seems to admit their hometown isn’t even impressed but promises things will pick up!

Dallas is a big city, but a small town, and I think that people [in Dallas] have been a little harsh. We all kind of have our guards up right now, but I think that’s probably par for the course, especially at this point. It’s been two episodes! You can’t judge, but people love to judge. It’s their favorite thing to do. As time goes on, though, I think that it’s going to change immensely, and I think it’s going to be seen as a good thing.

On the main thing she regrets so far? Saying she wouldn’t be with her husband when he was ‘fat’!

That was the one thing I’ve gotten killed on. My husband sits there during my interviews on the show. We’re together 24/7. He sits there, and he’s the one who sent those pictures into Bravo –not me! It’s not as if I was like, “Hey f–ker, here’s my fat husband!” I mean, God! I would never do that. He’s obsessed with showing people those photos!

Plus, I wasn’t sleeping with him when he was married, which was kind of my point in making that joke. When I said, “It’s not like I was sleeping with him when he was fat,” I was basically saying, “It’s not like I was sleeping with him while he was married.”

It’s funny because people don’t think everything I say is funny. But I guess that’s how it goes.

Dallas hasn’t been my favorite but I am kinda liking Cary’s dry sense of humor. Hopefully her promises prove to be true and it will pick up soon!
