Bethenny Frankel is one of the OG cast members of The Real Housewives of New York City. She recently opened up about two cast mates who were also originally on the show – Luann De Lesseps and Jill Zarin. Her friendships with the two ladies have been up and down over the years. However; since Luann De Lesseps went to rehab and Jill Zarin lost her husband Bobby Zarin to cancer – she has been getting closer to the two. This has fueled a lot of conversation in the media.
Bethenny stopped by Watch What Happens Live and, of course, was asked about Luann and Jill. She commented, “Luann is great. I mean Luann is actually, you know I can’t say I’m surprised, because Luann, we’ve talked about this, is the most resilient, strong, woman I’ve ever met, maybe. She hit the wall going 90, and the way you handle something when something bad happens, is really character building. It shows a lot about a person. She’s taking care of herself, she’s taking it seriously. She’s not delusional about where she is and she’s sort of on a path. She’s in a good place.” She added, “I mean, she’s very honest about exactly where she is and what happened. And about what her goals are. We spent time in a spa, and I’m honestly impressed.”
Bethenny also addressed her relationship with Jill Zarin, which people have been discussing since Bobby’s funeral. They had that special moment at the funeral and have been in touch a lot ever since. That has sparked people making assumptions that the two are bestfriends again. Then people thought Bethenny didn’t truly want to be BFF again, based on some of her interviews. However; Bethenny opened up about it on WWHL and said, “I went over to her house, I took my daughter out of school early to kind of just explain to her what sitting shiva was and a little bit about death and how you kind of support someone. We went over to her house. No one was there except Jill and Ally. I was actually there before Jill got back, she was going to the bank. She was probably going to the bank to cash all Bobby’s checks he left her. She was coming right back, and I surprised her. We had a nice conversation. She said to me, the first thing when she walked in, she said, ‘I begged Bobby to fix it. Fix it with Bethenny. Call her Fix it.’ And Bobby, who never said no to her, said, ‘No Jill. You have to figure it out yourself. You have to learn the lesson because you were wrong.’ So it was amazing that she kind of said that to me.”
She summed it up, “We had a really nice conversation. It was nice to hangout with Ally. It was nice for Bryn to meet Jill. It was all really nice and I knew it was making her feel really good in a difficult time. So it felt really, just positive.”
I think it’s really compassionate of Bethenny to be supportive of both Luann and Jill. She has had good times with these women, but there have also been feisty feuds. Bethenny could easily throw all of this in Luann’s face, and gloat, but she doesn’t. You don’t judge people when they are down and going through a hard time. The way people deal with tough situations is what truly defines them. I’m hoping that Bethenny and Jill will head towards that super close friendship they once had. I loved when they were besties in the earlier seasons. I definitely think it will take time, but it is totally possible.
