Denise Richards and Charlie Sheen are both successful actors and once upon a time they were married. They have children together and went through a very public divorce. Although their marriage ultimately didn’t work out for many reasons, Denise doesn’t feel like it was a “failure.” Instead she views it as a “journey.” Denise fully supports their children having a relationship with him, although he’s had a lot of issues that are well documented in the tabloids. Denise shares daughters Lola and Sam with Charlie. They were married to from 2002 to 2006, and split when Denise was six months pregnant with daughter Lola. Denise is the newbie of Bravo’s The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills and has been opening up about parenting.

Denise told People, “I was never bitter about my divorce. Going through everything, it changed me. But I love life and I’m a glass-half-full kind of person. And I did my best to rise above it. No matter what happens, Charlie can call me at any point. I don’t see our relationship as a failure. It’s a journey. It went a different way than we anticipated, but that’s okay. And I will always be a good friend to him.” Charlie has had a lot of ups and downs over the years, but is also a talented actor and has had a lot of success. In fact, according to NME, he was once the highest paid actor on television. Denise shared, “Times were extremely negative and I would have to tell myself, this too shall pass.”

Denise married Aaron Phypers in Malibu this past fall, and said they have an “amazing relationship.” However; Denise said she is very “supportive” of her daughters relationship with Charlie. He has been sober for over a year. Denise explained, “Whatever is going on with a couple, the children should not be privy to it. Obviously, there are times when emotions might flare up. But we’re human beings and we make mistakes. I know that when someone is struggling with addiction, sometimes choices are made that are not in the best judgment. I have empathy for that. I want Charlie to be the best person and father he can be.”

Denise is also focused on parenting. She feels that we live in a time where it is difficult to keep kids grounded. She also opened up about her daughter, Eloise, that she adopted as a single mom in 2011. Denise revealed that her daughter suffers from a chromosomal disorder and it “has caused a lot of developmental delays for her.” Denise explained, “She wasn’t able to sit up on her own for a very long time. She didn’t start walking until she was 2, and that was with physical therapy. She can only say a handful of words. And there are times when she feels like her age in understanding, and then other times where it feels she’s emotionally 3 years old. It’s been challenging. I’m learning every day because they don’t really have a road map for her particular case.” Eloise was diagnosed with the condition two and half years ago.

Denise stays positive about everything. She said, “Every child is different. You take care of your children no matter what is going on with them. I don’t know if Eloise is ever going to talk like a typical child. But as a parent, you want what’s best for your children, and you just do it.”

I’ve always liked Denise as an actress so I’m very excited for her to be on the RHOBH. It’ll be exciting to see her on Real Housewives. I think she will get along well with the women overall. I think it’s great how Denise co-parents with Charlie and how involved she is in her children’s lives. I hope we see Charlie on the show with Denise this upcoming season!
