Kandi Burruss’ daughter Riley Burruss is clearing up the rumors about her appearance.
The Next Gen NYC star, who graduated from New York University in 2024, confirmed that she got a nose job about five years ago before heading to college.
Riley opened up about the procedure during a September 20 episode of her mom’s Speak On It podcast after addressing online comments about her looks.
Riley explained that she gets more offended by people spreading lies than by people simply hurting her feelings.
“I get a lot of comments now about, like, ‘oh, she must be bleaching her skin’ and all that. I’m like, I actually don’t. I’ve never done that,” Riley said.
She then admitted that the nose job rumors are true.
“I did do that,” Riley said.
Kandi jumped in and said she does not understand why people continue bringing up Riley’s nose job when so many others have had cosmetic work done.
“The thing that annoys me about that situation is that everybody, it’s like a million people have done their nose, and it just seems like they keep bringing yours up,” Kandi said.
Riley made it clear that she has no regrets and believes people should stop judging what others choose to do with their bodies.
“It’s my body. If I want to go get 15 nose jobs, then I’ll do whatever I want,” Riley said. “We should stop judging people. If you don’t like something, do what you want about it. If you don’t want to do anything, don’t do it.”
She added, “I just feel like people think they have so much governance over other people.”
Kandi also revealed that Riley’s nose job was almost discussed years ago on The Real Housewives of Atlanta, but production decided not to air it.
According to Kandi, they were open to talking about the procedure on camera, but producers ultimately felt Riley should be protected because she was still Kandi’s child.
“They decided not to show it because they felt like you were my child, kind of like how we say ‘kids are off limits,’ so they didn’t really want to subject you to people saying negative things,” Kandi explained.
Riley said her decision to get a nose job had nothing to do with public pressure or what people thought of her.
“It just felt like my nose was a little too big for my face,” Riley said.
She added that she still felt beautiful at the time, but the shape of her nose was something that personally bothered her.
“It was just something that irritated me, and I think I was a little tired of having to contour my nose so much all the time,” Riley explained. “I was like, you know what? Let’s nip this in the bud real quick.”
Kandi admitted that she was originally against Riley having the surgery, but said she also knew her daughter well enough to understand that if Riley really wanted it, she would eventually do it.
“But I also know my child and I know that her Leo stubborn self, regardless of if I wanted her to do it or not, eventually she would do it if that was something that really bothered her,” Kandi said.
Kandi said that once she realized Riley was serious, she wanted to be involved to make sure Riley was safe and went to the right doctor.
“In our relationship, I’m always gonna be open to it, to hear what she wants,” Kandi said. “And if she’s that serious about it, at least I want to be a part of, okay, well, making sure she goes somewhere safe, making sure it’s somewhere that’s going to do it right.”
Riley also shared that people in her everyday life do not always notice that she had work done, but she understands why Bravo viewers who watched her grow up may see the difference.
“I get it. If you have seen me since a child and then now seeing the difference, I get why that’s a shocking thing or like a big deal because you knew me when I had my old nose,” Riley said.
She even revealed that her changed appearance once caused an issue with TSA because she looked different from the photo on her ID.
“I literally had to pull up the email of the confirmation of my nose job to like show the agent to be like, ‘No, this is me. I just got my nose done,’” Riley recalled.
Kandi joked, “I guess the facial recognition did not recognize.”
While Riley understands why fans may be curious, she is making one thing clear.
Her body is her business, and she is not interested in letting public opinion decide what she can or cannot do.
