Scheana Shay is opening up about why she recently apologized to Kristen Doute.
During an appearance on SiriusXM’s Reality Checked with Kiki Monique on Thursday, Scheana explained that one recurring issue in her friendship with Kristen has been Scheana staying friendly with people who Kristen felt had wronged her.
According to Scheana, she has come to realize that Kristen often sees people clearly much sooner than she does.
“I actually just recently had apologized to her for something,” Scheana said. “And I just said, ‘I’m so sorry that sometimes it takes me years to see what you see in people in days.’”
Scheana admitted that this has been a pattern in her friendship with Kristen.
“That’s been an issue with mine and Kristen’s friendship is people who have done her dirty who I have like remained cool with,” Scheana explained.
Doute, according to Scheana, would often question why Scheana was not seeing the same red flags.
“She’s like, ‘Do you not see?’ And I’m like, ‘No, I don’t,’” Scheana said.
But eventually, Scheana says she does end up seeing what Kristen saw all along.
“And then I see it and I’m like, ‘Oh, she was right.’ Again.”
Scheana and Kristen’s friendship has gone through plenty of ups and downs over the years, both on Vanderpump Rules and off camera. The two have had messy moments, loyalty issues and overlapping friend group drama, but they have also remained connected through years of Bravo history.
Scheana’s comments show that she is now acknowledging one of Kristen’s biggest frustrations: Kristen may feel hurt by someone, but Scheana does not always immediately cut that person off or recognize the issue the same way.
