Caroline Manzo is opening up about where things stand with her younger sister, Dina Manzo.
The former Real Housewives of New Jersey star appeared on the Legally Goff podcast, where she gave a rare update on her complicated relationship with Dina. While Caroline made it clear she has no interest in rehashing every detail of their family issues publicly, she did admit that the distance between them still comes with pain.
Caroline first addressed the public speculation surrounding her relationship with Dina, saying people do not know the full story.
“They don’t know all about it. They only assume, and you know, it all gets lost in translation,” Caroline said. “I’m a very private person, and that’s something I’ve never spoken about … and I have no intention of speaking about it.”
While Caroline did not want to get into the details of what caused the divide, she acknowledged that she and Dina are simply very different people.
“I don’t know the ‘whys’ of things, and we’re two very different people. She needs to preserve her sanity, and I need to preserve mine,” Caroline said. “And just because you have a sibling doesn’t mean that you’re bonded together for life. Sometimes we’re just very different people.”
Caroline said that, at this point, she believes both sisters have to live their lives peacefully, even if that means separately.
“Go live your life in peace, and I’ll live my life in peace, and that’s it,” she said.
But Caroline also admitted that accepting the reality of their relationship does not mean it makes her happy.
“It doesn’t make me happy. But it’s the reality of things, so you just deal with it and move on,” Caroline added.
When Caroline was asked directly if she misses Dina, she did not hesitate to say there are parts of her sister she still misses.
“I miss certain things about her,” Caroline said. “There’s a lot of hurt there, on both of our parts. A lot of hurt.”
Caroline then pointed to the history they share as sisters and made it clear that Dina will always hold a place in her life, even if their relationship is not currently close.
“But of course you have a history with somebody,” Caroline explained. “She’s my baby sister. Of course I miss her.”
Caroline also admitted that the hurt between them is not one-sided.
“There’s a lot of things I miss about her, and there’s a lot of things that, you know, we’ve hurt each other,” she said. “It’s reciprocal. It’s life.”
Caroline and Dina’s relationship has been a longtime topic of discussion among RHONJ fans. The sisters appeared together during the early years of the franchise, but their bond later became strained, with family tension playing out both on and off camera.
