NeNe is set to appear on Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip: Roaring 20th, a special edition of the franchise celebrating 20 years of Housewives history. The project marks her first time back on the network since leaving The Real Housewives of Atlanta in 2020.

Speaking to Vulture, Andy explained why bringing NeNe back felt like the right move.

“As we looked back on 20 years, it felt like doing something with her would be really nice for the fans, and she really wanted to do it,” he said. He also described their recent experience working together as “very positive.”

Andy didn’t shy away from acknowledging NeNe’s impact on the franchise.

He called her “integral to the show and its success,” pointing to her role as one of the original Atlanta Housewives who helped shape the series into a cultural force.

When it came to NeNe’s 2022 lawsuit against Bravo, Andy, and the production companies behind the show, he kept his response brief.

“I can’t speak to that lawsuit, but it’s in the past.”

The lawsuit, which included allegations of racism and a hostile work environment, was dismissed without prejudice just four months after it was filed.

As for whether this return could lead to NeNe rejoining RHOA full time, Andy was more guarded.

“You know what? We’ve worked so hard to get a cast on Atlanta that is cohesive and makes sense and that we love and the fans love,” he said. “We want to be at the level that Atlanta used to be, and we are finally there.”

“That’s what I’m focusing on right now,” he added.

NeNe, for her part, has also hinted she is open to coming back under the right circumstances.

“If they called, I would answer,” she said earlier this year. “I would need to hear what they have to say.”

She also made it clear that she’s moved on from past issues.

“We have put a lot of things behind us that some people know, some people don’t know. We’ve ended all of those things, we’ve moved forward.”

For now, her return to Bravo is official, but whether it leads to something bigger is still an open question.
