Liz McGraw and Kelsey Swanson may have delivered one of the messiest moments of the season — but it turns out their friendship didn’t completely fall apart after all.
Following their heated, expletive-filled clash on The Real Housewives of Rhode Island, the two are now opening up about where things stand — and surprisingly, they’re in a much better place.

Appearing on the RHORI After Show, Liz and Kelsey were even able to laugh while revisiting the drama, though it’s clear they still don’t totally agree on how everything unfolded.
At the center of the blowup? One word: “ongoing.”
Kelsey’s use of the term while referencing rumors that Liz allegedly had an affair with her best friend Dino is what Liz says pushed her over the edge during her husband Gerry McGraw’s Studio 54-themed birthday party.
“The ongoing what, Kelsey?!” Liz repeated again on the After Show, making it clear the comment still doesn’t sit right with her.
Despite the tension, the two also found humor in the chaotic lead-up to the argument — including the now-infamous moment Liz had been “eating a piece of cake on the ground” before everything spiraled.
The situation escalated after Liz expressed that she wanted a quiet moment “under the moonlight” with her husband and, as Kelsey described it, her “best friend” Dino.
“Friends, plural,” Liz quickly corrected. “Not just the three of us.”
Still, Kelsey maintains the entire fight may have been one big misunderstanding.

“If I was able to finish the sentence, you would’ve understood where I was coming from,” she explained, insisting she never got the chance to clarify what she meant by “ongoing.”
Liz, however, isn’t buying that explanation.
“But you weren’t finishing, because I asked you 12 times. Like, ongoing what? Ongoing what?” she pushed back.
According to Kelsey, the moment simply got too chaotic to resolve in real time.
“It was just hectic in that moment that we couldn’t get to the bottom of what I meant,” she said.
That confusion played out in full during the episode, especially after Liz abruptly stormed off mid-conversation, dropping F-bombs as Kelsey stood there trying to process what had just happened.
“She took something wrong,” Kelsey said at the time, clearly caught off guard.
The drama didn’t stop there. Kelsey followed Liz inside, where a hot mic captured their off-camera argument — giving viewers an even deeper look into just how intense things got.
“I wanted to be at the sea wall with my husband and my best friends,” Liz said, visibly upset. “And you went, ‘Oh, I think not Dino ’cause the ongoing…’ I don’t have an ongoing. It’s all lies. I have nothing to hide. Maybe you do, but I don’t. ‘Because of the ongoing.’ Maybe you have the ongoing, not me. F–k off.”
Kelsey, still confused, asked again, “Why are you mad at me?!” — only for Liz to fire back, “You got more to hide than I do. How about that?”
While the moment was undeniably explosive, it seems time — and some distance — has helped smooth things over, even if the details of that night are still up for debate.
One thing is clear: the friendship may have cracked under pressure, but it didn’t completely break.
