Crystal Kung Minkoff is opening up about her friendship with Jeff Lewis and whether his outspoken personality has created tension with her former Bravo castmates.
During an exclusive interview with Roxanne and Shantel, the former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star was asked whether any Housewives had expressed concerns about her close relationship with Jeff, who has never been shy about criticizing fellow Bravo personalities.
“Not that they’ve said to me,” Crystal revealed.
However, Crystal admitted that navigating friendships with people who don’t necessarily get along can be complicated.
“I’ve always been someone who’s like, if you’re really mean to my friend, then like, I can’t really be friends with you.”
At the same time, Crystal Kung Minkoff explained that her own experience with Jeff has given her a different perspective on his personality.
“Look, I started off with Jeff in a very negative way. He was like trashing me.”
Crystal recalled confronting Jeff about his comments and receiving an apology.
“When I called him out, he apologized and he said, it’s just like something I do. And it’s not really that deep.”
Crystal made it clear that she didn’t initially see things the same way.
“I’m like, well, it is deep for me because it’s really hurtful.”
Despite their rocky beginning, the two eventually developed a close friendship.
Crystal also acknowledged that she understands why some people might have issues with Jeff, pointing specifically to his ongoing tension with Real Housewives of Orange County star Gina Kirschenheiter.
“I can see people not liking him for sure. I mean, look at him and Gina right now.”
But Crystal isn’t interested in choosing sides.
“I actually really like Gina,” she revealed.
Crystal explained that she has no problem telling Jeff directly when she disagrees with how he treats someone.
“I’m like, I like Gina and you’re too hard on her. And I don’t know why you say that.”
She added that she would be equally transparent with Gina about maintaining her friendship with Jeff.
“I’m still a friend, you know, so I’m really transparent about it.”
During an appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, host Andy Cohen asked Jeff Lewis which Bravo star’s home he would never design. Jeff Lewis named Gina Kirschenheiter, stating that he could not work with her budget. He also took a jab at her upcoming wedding plans with fiancé Travis Mullen, remarking, “Broke people shouldn’t have big weddings.”
As for whether her friendship with Jeff has caused problems with any Housewives, Crystal maintained that nobody has personally confronted her about it.
“No one’s really said anything to me, but let’s see how far it goes.”
